Strange. Do Virgin capture the broadcast themselves so they have a MPEG2 copy to upload?

Also, apologies to DVD Cinema.

Larger HDD STB's will become the norm going forward , the larger boxes are useful for viewing content at leisure , example being people who want to record all the bond movies in HD then watch when they please , as this user below proves

HD On Demand on Sky is excellent quality , surely you've watched Sky Anytime or Sky Movies On Demand through VM the quality easily matches other broadcasters. I'm pretty sure the content Sky upload to VM will be the same content that's uploaded onto the Sky servers for Sky's own On Demand and I've never seen anyone on here complaining about poor PQ from it. Not all Sky's On Demand content is delivered via BB the showcase is stocked each night over the satellite meaning that content is ready instantly without the need for a BB connection.

Re: Catch Up HD Inconsistencies.

1 user's habit is not what I'd consider the norm. Extra space is nice to have but having to pay a premium of up to £309 (standard 1.5Tb + installation charges) will put the majority off.

The Sky HD OD I've watched is ok but the SD PQ, the majority of what's available, is of lower quality compared to say iPlayer or 4oD. Much like the low resolution output on their SD channels. I remember when Living became Sky Living, the PQ changed from VM's DVD quality to Sky's YouTube style SD PQ overnight.

The programmes are uploaded by the content providers to a central server then distributed to the 48 regional headends.

I know its only anecdotal, but I noticed a considerable deterioration in sd picture quality at about the same time that Sky starting selling hd channels.

Re: Catch Up HD Inconsistencies.

Catch up on demand in any format is a total joke, it's usually unavailable at random times, and trying to get it in HD is just not worth bothering about, Virgin need to get these things sorted out, it's just plain bad service imo.

Re: Catch Up HD Inconsistencies.

I've only had V HD recently and noticed straight away the, surprisingly, superb quality of BBC HD Catch Up on V HD, having watched it @ 3.5 mbps on BBC online before.

The availability of programs on BBC HD Catch Up is pretty excellent really.

I am disappointed to see Five HD content disappear, as it was there, or has it/will it reappear?

I would love to see ITV HD and Channel 4 HD Catch Up.

Hit and miss with myself.
ITV looks the worse on catchup, Channel 4 however looks very good.
BBC of course will be a lot nicer looking due to the fact that it's an online stream rather than what's stored on headends.
