Catch Up HD Inconsistencies.

Catch Up TV HD is brilliant in it's picture quality, but it keeps missing programmes.

Gardeners World was never put up last week in HD and was late in SD. SD can be viewed for longer in Series Catch Up, but HD is not available.

Has Demand Five HD Catch Up been discontinued, as nothing at all is showing for this now? Home And Away was consistently missing episodes.

This is an ongoing issue and not recent.

Leicester.

Re: Catch Up HD Inconsistencies.

I've checked by channel, by day and by genre. None of the demand 5 stuff is in hd. Unfortunately I can't say I've ever really watched anything on it in the past so I can't say if there ever was hd content available.

Re: Catch Up HD Inconsistencies.

Could be due to rights problems, as stated on Channel 5's website.

Re: Catch Up HD Inconsistencies.

Are Sky actually now able to say that their catch up service is better than Virgin's?

Sky catch up on line service will never catch up with the 18mbps quality BBC HD Catch Up is on Virgin.

That is the quality of the BBC HD channel. iPlayer HD on all platforms is 720p 3.5mbps.

Re: Catch Up HD Inconsistencies.

As long as Sky's needs downloading and saving onto your own personal storage and waiting for it to start playing, however long, it'll never be as good as Virgin's.

Re: Catch Up HD Inconsistencies.

Can't say I've ever really thought of it , just hit the select button and view when available but then for me it's always been about the content I'm watching over the method it's being delivered by. Once viewed press yellow and delete , with boxes now recording upto 350hrs HD can't see space ever being an issue.

If we're talking purely delivery method , cable will always have an advantage due to its two way nature , Broadband and On Demand have always been a major cable selling point.

Re: Catch Up HD Inconsistencies.

Only a small minority will have the larger HDD boxes and if you need so much space it obviously shows it is an issue. Having to rely on broadband to receive content also means the quality will never be like broadcast quality.

@Jamesh
HD catchup content on V+ and V HD boxes, I'm sure, is of much higher bit rate than internet delivered HD such as iPlayer HD on TiVo.

The iPlayer HD content (liberate platform) is actually 19.8mbps so DVD Cinema wasn't far off.
