I'v had one since 1987 (a mobile phone) it was the Motorola 8000x then in about 1990 I went over to the then new Hutchinson Orange flip phone with a credit card size sim card which gave you free calls with your monthly charge of £25 I think, I then had a Nokia 101 GSM on Orange.. how they have moved on.
Regarding my search for an iPhone on a student deal nobody offers student deals so they say BUT the 3 Network offer is £29 per month for 24month which gives you 500 min talk time 5000 text and all you can eat data phone cost reduced from £49 to £29.00 for the iPhone 4S 16 Gb black or white.
Yes I know the iPone 5 is coming out soon but the monthly cost will be much higher with less airtime, unless you know a better deal........
Thanks for all the advice

Re: The iPhone thread
I've seen the Galaxy S3 and find it too big, more like a calculator.
I like the IPhone 5's shape and size.
What I'd like to know now is a feature list so I can see how dramatically different or not it will be from my Iphone 4.

I still think that it is worth waiting
When the 5 comes out, the price of the 4S should surely drop. Instead of 3GS < 4 < 4S it should be 4 < 4S < 5.

Re: The iPhone thread
So, it's official: iPhone 5
http://www.apple.com/iphone/
http://www.apple.com/iphone/compare-iphones/
- 4" 1136-by-640-pixel "Retina" display (326 ppi, 16:9 aspect ratio)
- Thinner and lighter than the 4S
- WiFi a/b/g/n (with dual-band n)
- HSPA, HSPA+, DC-HSDPA... and LTE ("4G"). It will work with Everything Everywhere's LTE in the UK.
- "Apple A6" system-on-a-chip, which is "twice as fast" as the dual-core "A5" used in the iPhone 4S... suggesting it's probably been bumped to a quad-core ARM Cortex-A9 CPU and quad-core PowerVR SGX543 GPU (Apple never gives details, so we'll have to wait for iFixit to do a teardown).
- Improved cameras
- Smaller "Lightning" connector.
- Nano-SIM
Pre-orders start on Friday the 14th of September, and the release date is Friday the 21st of September.
Same pricing as the 4S currently has (at least in the US).
Comes with iOS6.
iOS6 is released for other iOS devices on Wednesday the 19th of September.

Re: The iPhone thread
All the rumours point to October for the iPad Mini.
It wouldn't make sense to have both that and the iPhone 5 competing for attention at the same time.
EDIT:
Oh, but the iPods have been updated. iTunes is also finally getting overhauled.

Re: The iPhone thread
The iPhone may get a release date of around the 21 September if it follows the normal release date process, we may find out more information in work tomorrow as I expect many people will be calling to try and preorder it.

Re: The iPhone thread
Don't waste you money get a Droid phone, far cheaper on the wallet Plus you can upgrad RAM and put in a replacement battery

Re: The iPhone thread
I might be tempted to wander about in my local Chavs4U store and see how long it take for them to try to sign me up for a new 5

I was not in work for its announcement but was well aware that upon any announcement it would follow normal business practice and be released on 21st September.

Re: The iPhone thread
Looks very meh......
Nothing really outstanding and apart from a longer screen the design is very similar to the 4 still.
