Because wireless and bluetooth are rubbish for streaming video content. That would also make the box more expensive to manufacture.

Re: Virgin TV Anywhere arriving in Autumn 2012
For remote control I'd say there are several options :-
Use your normal internet connection and then back to the TIVo via its built in internet connection although the lag will be horrendous
VM supply a wireless dongle perhaps at extra cost (like Sky does for Anytime+)
VM recommend a home plug solution
VM just say plug it into your router via a cable
Sky don't appear to have any problems in suggesting to their customers to plug the Sky box into the router to get Sky Anytime+ (they have been running TV ads telling their customers to do this) so I can't see any problem with VM doing the same

Bluetooth yes, wireless no. How do you think you get video to an iPad to start with?
It is a moot point though, because it is only needed for the remote control functions.

Have you tried streaming massive HD files to your ipad at the other end of your house from the Tivo? Having both ends be wireless will cause the majority of customers problems.

Definitely! Is this development also likely to see multi room streaming enabled too?

This for me personally is an issue and therefore I will vent my opinion. Same as having a very text input driven gui, and not having a bloody qwerty controller to compliment it like they do in the US.

On who's part. Your network in your house is your responsibility and if you want to use this FREE service then you should make sure that YOUR side of the network is ready.
Smacks of complaining for complaining sake if you ask me.

Stick a BT dongle in the USB port maybe?

So buy one. It works fine. Or a wireless keyboard.

Re: Virgin TV Anywhere arriving in Autumn 2012
I thought the whole point of them delaying the remote side of the app for over a year was for them to come up with a solution that didn't require you to plug it into a router.
I don't have a problem with plugging mine in as it is right next to the router. But VM seemed to be acting like it was the end of the world a few months ago and there was no way their customers would be able to cope with connecting it to a router. Have the customers become more intelligent over the last couple of months, what has changed?

There are two solution rather than the one there was. If you put the time into sorting your network out you get more functionality. The side affect is you don't need to be at home to use the app anymore, apart from using it as a remote that doesn't make sense if you out the house anyway.

Listen, it is not FREE. I am paying a subscription ( VIP ) and this is part of the service. Sky have also had this for years in with the cost of subscription, Virgin are playing catchup. It has sod all to do with my network being ready, Virgin should supply the dongle, does not matter if there is a small cost it should be supplied. Also seriously, it not as if it is something I am asking for that TiVO do not already supply. They also supply a qwerty keypad. If the text input used predictive text like Nokia then there would be an issue.

Re: Virgin TV Anywhere arriving in Autumn 2012
I don't consider the TiVo to be mainly text driven, when i do need text the number pad is fine. Can't wait for the app to be launched streaming will be great.
