Miliband - Labour wrong on immigration

Quote:
Labour badly mishandled the issue of immigration in government, Ed Miliband is expected to say. In a speech later, Mr Miliband will say his party "got it wrong" when it allowed uncontrolled immigration from new EU states in 2004
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-18539472

Hmmm.... sounds a tad familiar don't you think?

Quote:
TONY Blair admitted yesterday the Government had got it WRONG over immigration. The PM acknowledged for the first time it had been a mistake to brush off warnings that the system is being abused. His spectacular U-turn also included a pledge for a “top to bottom” crackdown on scroungers from abroad. Mr Blair even admitted he should not have branded critics racist for objecting to Labour’s seven years of immigration policy failure.

Don't worry though, I'm sure there's no cynicism at work here and that they'll do much better next time...

Re: Miliband - Labour wrong on immigration

Isn't it always heart-warming to hear ministers admit to their biggest failings after they've been booted out of government?

Re: Miliband - Labour wrong on immigration

Or when they're seeking re-election.

Obviously they believe there's plenty of people with short memories and/or rose tinted specs who'll buy this guff and overlook the fact that nothing much changed after Blair's 'sincere' apology in 2004. In fact they were still branding anyone who objected as deluded 'bigots' right up until they were removed from power. No amount of Miliband's new found 'humility' alters that fact and makes me doubt he'd only provide more of the same if elected.

I'd have more sympathy with that view if they weren't the same sins cynically being repeated again and again...

No. Labour should never ever be forgiven for what they did regarding immigration or the economy.

Labour are trying to ensure that the skeletons they know will come back to haunt them at the next election are dealt with beforehand. That way they will think we have forgotten what a bunch of incompetent idiots they really are.

So they still need to deal with

Sending troops to war on a lie
Selling our gold at the cheapest price they could
Selling us out to Europe
Getting us into the biggest financial mess the country has ever been in.

but worst of all Being Labour

Expect a raft of 'sincere apologies' for those 'mistakes', and more, as the next election approaches but don't expect anything to change after it.

---------- Post added at 10:12 ---------- Previous post was at 10:06 ----------

I must say Miliband's 'apology' for his party's immigration 'mistakes' flies in the face of what former advisor to Tony Blair and Jack Straw, Anderew Neather, claimed was a deliberate policy.

Quote:
The huge increases in migrants over the last decade were partly due to a politically motivated attempt by ministers to radically change the country and "rub the Right's nose in diversity", according to Andrew Neather, a former adviser to Tony Blair, Jack Straw and David Blunkett.

In fact, as recently as late 2011, Bliar was espousing 'more of the same'...

Quote:
Tony Blair has defended Labour’s controversial mass immigration policy by claiming that Britain cannot succeed unless it opens its borders to more people from different backgrounds.

Re: Miliband - Labour wrong on immigration

So now Ed has apologised ah well that makes it all ok then lets all just forget the damage that idiotic policy did to the country in terms of race relations and a lot of british workers being priced out of employment. Whenever i see ed millipede on the tele i have this urge to slap him to death he always looks to me as though he is just going by script i never feel he is saying what or how he truly feels. Sadly given the pain many have and many more will feel by the time the next election comes i wouldn't be too surprised to see labour getting more votes then they should. We can only hope enough people will remember the past and stop them getting back into power anytime soon.

Don't worry he'll be promising 'British jobs for British workers' next...
