Because of this "interesting story"? Probably not worth cancelling over I would think; but each to their own.

No you wouldn't. As long as there was no TV connected to the STB, you could leave the stb connected to the cable. You only need a licence to watch or record live TV.

Although, disconnecting it would make it easier to claim you weren't watching TV.

If you continue pay for television services then you would be prosecuted by the TV Licensing Authority because as far as they are concerned you intend to use the box for it true purpose.

To prevent the possibility of prosecution you would have to have your television service disconnected by Virgin Media.

Any more news on when BT are going to implement a block ,i can't find any updates so maybe they are going to do the sensible thing and ignore it

good for them, it is nice to see a company that takes pride in their service to customers and stands up for what they believe in. Love the QR code btw

Were TPB supposed to be taking their servers down Sirius? I appreciate that the block is a joke but I was under the impression that they were ordered by the court to dismantle the site.

Well lets face it, The block does not work and in fact from what i have seen all it has done is

A. Driven more users to the site

B. Highlighted the site to those who may not have known about it

C. Educated people in the alternative file sharing sites

D. Shown people how to use a VPN which makes it harder for them to be found by the rights owners in the first place

EPIC FAIL springs to mind

Either that or they should get into really big trouble for defying a legally-binding court order.

There is no current court order forcing BT to block TPB. They don't risk anything by not blocking the site.

TPB still isn't blocked here (BT) - but I don't ever use it any more. I don't think it should be blocked anyway.

I did give serious thought to ditching the TV License as I use the various on demand services like iPlayer (Not live obviously ) and netflix.

But at only £6.06 a month I don't mind paying as I use a lot of other BBC stuff and even if I was paying full price I'd probably stay too.
