What about if you use adblock to get around the limits? I never notice any youtube adverts. Is that illegal?

Re: The Pirate Bay is blocked (Discuss but do not post detail of how to get round it)
I just started downloading a mega torrent of Billy the Exterminator episodes for the kids. (14Gb) Our 1Tb Tivo is full of stuff, some of which we don't want to delete just yet. There is no room for B the E!
Rather than go through the fuss of getting a DVD recorder and blank DVDs to record from the Tivo I am downloading something I already have paid to watch. I will seed the torrent until I hit a share ratio of 1:1 if the torrent is short of seeds. (Honour amongst thieves?) When the kids tire of B the E, or grow out of him, he will get deleted. I do not feel I am abusing the rights of anyone or denying royalties to any creator.
OMG, I just realised, I won't be buying a DVD recorder dedicated to the Tivo box! The electronics economy will be ruined.

Neither of which is actually good justification for doing what you're doing

Have you ever used newsgroups. There far safer than using TPB.

I use BTGuard and common sense when it comes to safety. This slows things down a bit, but not enough to make a difference.

but now get a pause when an ad is blocked at start of video.
I have noticed in the past 1-2 months youtube have got overly agressive on their ads.
Last year I estimated about 1 in 4 videos I watched had a banner and only videos from large companies had full screen ads which could be skipped.
Now about 90% show an ad, about 33% have a full screen ad and a lot of the full screen ads can no longer be skipped and now of course when using an adblocker the video pauses before playing as if youtube did something to irritate ad blocker users.
So I contacted youtube and asked them why do they want to use ads that take your full attention and make you want to block them, why not just play an ad in an area not covering the video or delaying the playing of the video. Apparently their advertisers will only pay if the ads obstruct the content. I argued then they get less views as people will block the ads or ignore whats on screen until the ad has finished. I got nowhere of course.

I'm using Adblock in Firefox with no problems. No ads and video plays instantly.

I get it on different machines different browsers, its consistent.
ad blocking = pause but no ad
no ad blocking = no pause but high chance of ad.

Yep. It's still illegal because the person (or people) who sent you your copy had no licence to distribute it.

Indeed. Don't forget we are discussing the legality of doing this and not the morality. Because, of course, morally there's no problem in doing what he's doing

Re: The Pirate Bay is blocked (Discuss but do not post detail of how to get round it)
i'm getting a pause at the start of youtube videos with adblock aswell, i thought it was because they seem to be changing the video player again.
noticed the other day a video had proper thumbnails on the whole time bar, and not just where i put the mouse.
