European Court to decide if Christians can wear a cross at work
Yeah, I can really see Christians, not just Christians, but all kinds of people that wear the cross, abiding by this ban if it were to happen.
Quote:
The Government is set to argue that Christians do not have the right to wear a cross or crucifix openly at work, in a landmark discrimination court case which will be heard by the European Court of Human Rights.
The case will seek to establish the human rights of two British women to display the cross, while the government will argue that because the Christian faith does not 'require' them to wear the cross, it does not fall under the remit of human rights.

Have to love the fact that both of the link headlines (and, I am sure, almost all of the reports about this) miss out the word "openly".........

Re: European Court to decide if Christians can wear a cross at work
I'm not too bothered if someone wants to wear a cross.
the only people who are bothered are the ones who think it may offend somebody. or they are actually offended by it.

I wonder if this is a way for Christians to get a "required religious item" that they have to wear to prove they are Christians as currently they don't have one and are feeling a little left out .

I bet they wish they could re-write the Bible and put "thou should wear the symbol of Christ at all times"

And yet does it not say in the 10 commandments that 'thou shall worship no graven images'?
So why would anyone HAVE to wear a cross?

I always found it odd that they would want to wear a model of the item supposedly used to kill him.

That's actually quite a good thought.
another one is what's the symbol for God. why only a symbol for Jesus?
if he didn't die on a cross and was cremated or something, then what symbol if any would there be?
it's also quite interesting that the cross is the only symbol there is.

Some forms of Christianity (Catholicism etc) blatantly break this commandment. But if someone is following the Bible to the letter, no image, person or item is needed for worship, prayer etc.

It symbolises the sacrifice he made for us. Again, there's no requirement for it.
I certainly have never felt the need to wear any sort of symbol of Christianity.

I love it when you publicly display your encyclopedic knowledge on such matters.

What'll they do when someone decides to have a cross tattooed on their face? Make them wear a mask?

What, you mean you don't know?
It symbolises that as well us Jesus asking us to be 'fishers of men'.

The Romans persecuted the Christians and it became dangerous for them to meet. So the Christians devised a secret code. They drew half a fish in the sand. If a person completed the fish, they knew he or she was a believer too.
Then what?

Us?
He chose several fishermen to be his disciples and declared he would make them "fishers of men"
