Is there any technical reason why this wasn't in the TiVo from the start or was it just an over sight on VMs part?

TiVo has never had it AFAIK, so it's technical.

When TiVo is perfected down the line this is one issue that could always comeback and haunt VM, as people have said all other major providers have some form of dynamic epg.

I am just happy with the dynamic series link, with the V+ I missed the start of a couple of seasons

I was under the impression that Tivo didn't have it initially simply because the boxes needed to dial in to the Tivo servers, and it wasn't practical to have them do so more than once a day.

That wouldn't be a problem with the VM Tivo though, as it's permanently connected.

Since the software is sort of bespoke to Virgin Media's needs, possibly they could request the EPG to be dynamic?

As long as it can be turned on or off like Sky's can. Dynamlc EPGs can also cause problems as well as be beneficial.

A dynamic EPG is good in most instances I have ITV1 HD on now through Sky and the listings have updated for the Middlesboro v Sunderland game which is now in ET , it has ITV news at ten now listed at 10.35 with the current footie still listed until then , although I will say it doesn't appear to have updated on the SD variant which seems strange.
