Question SuperHub in Modem Mode with DD-WRT Router

Hello.

I've just joined and am looking for some help.

I have had a SuperHub (SH) for a year, and whilst in it's default settings it's worked (mostly), I can never seem to change any settings without it screwing things up. For example, if I changed the SSID it fails to ever work.

Wireless Internet connection drops out after sometime (usually a week or two) and I have to power cycle the SH. This is fine for me, but the rest of the family struggle with it.

I bought a new router (Netgear WNDR3700v2) and flashed it with dd-wrt.

When I put the SH into modem mode, the WAN IP shown in dd-wrt was 192.168.0.13. I was not able to get any Internet access though. IP addresses were given out through my new router fine (192.168.1.x) and I was able to access the dd-wrt config pages.

Is it possible to get to the config pages of SH in this mode?

I was expecting the WAN IP address to be the actual Internet facing IP, so a 192.168.0.x address was unexpected.

Anyone else faced similar issues and able to help?

Thanks!

192.168.100.1 should be the SH.

Have you connected your router to the right port on the SH? Only one works when in modem mode.

Re: SuperHub in Modem Mode with DD-WRT Router

You can reach the modem-mode Superhub configuration pages at http://192.168.100.1

In my experience, the issue that you are experiencing is most commonly caused by a failure to restart the cable modem / Superhub after a change in the MAC address of the connected equipment.

Try connecting your network as before with the Superhub in cable modem mode attached via its LAN port 1 (nearest the co-axial cable connector) to the WAN port of the WNDR3700. Ensure the WNDR3700 is up and set to acquire a WAN IP address automatically, via DHCP.

Now try power cycling the Superhub. All being well, when the Superhub comes back up, the WNDR3700 should report a successful WAN connection through DHCP.

Hope this helps.

Phil.

NB.

I have no experience with the WNDR3700. It may be reluctant to attempt to re-acquire a WAN IP address when the Superhub comes back up. If this is the case, either force it to renew via the configuration pages (if possible), or simply power-cycle it.

Phil.

Great thanks guys!

I have it working now. Re-did Modem Mode and left DD-WRT router off until it restarted. Its now working perfectly with all the dd-wrt goodness I wanted

Re: SuperHub in Modem Mode with DD-WRT Router

Good to hear. The WNDR3700 is an excellent router. And 192.168.0.13 does indicate the SH wasn't actually in modem mode properly.

Yeah, the 192.168.0.13 address was suspect, but I had people trying to use the Internet so didn't have much chance to play with it.
