Re: Uddingston upload speed improvement
okay now you have deleted your duplicate...
Ignition will be the expert here, but it looks like the upgrades for your particular segment of the network arent underway yet, your still on DOCSIS 1.1 upstream, which is yet to be upgraded to DOCSIS 2.0 - once this is done, your config file will be changed to allow for 5mbit upload

Re: Uddingston upload speed improvement
across the whole area it can take ages, again, not too sure of the exact info, but it involves upgrades at the CMTS as well as the cabinet I beleive, so it can be very time consuming in big areas

Re: Uddingston upload speed improvement
without inside information there is no way of telling, the months given in the schedule say they will be finished by the end of those months, so in your case the end of Feb, so they have 3 weeks, I imagine most of the work is done, maybe some more cabinet work, and mostly network end stuff, once thats done they can change the config files which should be a 5 minute job

Re: Uddingston upload speed improvement
Still plenty of time for you to be alright. Won't see an upstream change until you're no more than 2 weeks from change.

Nope the upload upgrade to child sites is nothing to do with their parents. The CMTS serving Castlecary live at the Castlecary hubsite. As far as broadband goes the links are all IP only.
7 17 ms 32 ms 13 ms leed-bb-1a-as1-0.network.virginmedia.net [62.253.185.237] Ex-ntl Leeds, Juniper T series
8 31 ms 30 ms 23 ms uddi-core-1a-as0-0.network.virginmedia.net [213.105.159.69] Ex-Telewest Uddingston, Juniper T series
9 21 ms 23 ms 30 ms uddi-geam-1a-pc111.network.virginmedia.net [80.3.16.82] Ex-Telewest Uddingston, Cisco 12k GSR
10 22 ms 22 ms 37 ms cast-geam-1a-tenge71.network.virginmedia.net [62.30.246.38] Ex-Telewest Castlecary, Cisco 12k GSR

The upload upgrade is pure DOCSIS, so terminates at the CMTS.
The smaller child sites are going to get the upgrade before their larger parent sites simply because there are more components to replace in the cabled areas covered by the larger sites as they pass more homes. Case in point is my own, which should've been done last month, it is a 4 x VXR, 2 x BSR site, its parent site, Croydon, has 4 times as much CMTS capacity with 16 VXRs and 4 Cisco 10ks.

All the CMTS support DOCSIS 2 upstreams without modification, it's bonding that needed the new cards.

that makes sense, i suppos ei was stupidly thinking because the backlink to uddingston might nto cope with teh capicty that they need ot ugprade uddingsotn first before the speed could be available at castlecary but i get what your saying amkes sense now that it would only be the cmts that is the problem
