Upload speeds

Hi,
Could somebody advise me what speeds I am supposed to be getting for upload on my 50Mb broadband in the LE2 area. I never seem to get above 1.2Mbps but I thought it should be higher?

My download speeds seem to be fine, I'm quite happy with that.

Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Upload speeds

You should be getting 5mbps upload in your area.

Are you using a Superhub?

If you click the "Connection" button in the toolbar at the top of any forum page, what is at the start of the Host?

As an example, mine is:

cpc1-chap8

The part in bold is the "Short Name for Location" in the following PDF.

http://shop.virginmedia.com/content/...e_13_09_11.pdf

This lists the areas that have been upgraded to the faster upload speeds. I'd guess yours will say "leic".

Re: Upload speeds

Mine says cpc3-nfds14 and yes the area is Leicester. The cable modem is a VNMG300v2, it does not have an integrated router so I'm guessing it's not a superhub?

Looking at that code why would I have nfds in the connection code?

Re: Upload speeds

PDF says Northfields and upgraded.

So check your config file in the modem stats - http://192.168.100.1 and then the Operation config link. Look at Upstream Max Traffic Rate - it's your upstream rate in bits.

If it says 5Mbps and not 1.75Mbps then the next suspect is your router - check to see if it has any QoS settings - if so turn QoS off and retest. I've seen a number of posts where upstream has been limited by old forgotten QoS settings.

Re: Upload speeds

Yes - just checked the QOS engine setting on the router and it was on. Disabling it produced these results - which is far better. Many thanks for your help!
