Upgrade
Hallo
I have just "upgraded" from 20Mb on an old silver Ambit (I think) modem. I got the "Superhub" today, and it just won't connect. I reconnect the old faithful, and away I go (straight into the PC). I have also tried it through my Linkysys router to no avail. Do I have to de-register the old one first? Any help appreciated.
Cheers
Ian.

Re: Upgrade
did you call up and activate it? there should be a poster type that you open up, follow the instructions.. call the number. you don't need to give them any hardware info they already have it on your account, just confirm your account

Re: Upgrade
That was quick! No, I didn't. But the instructions just referred to plugging it (the Superhub) in and following the instructions.
But I can't, as I have no connection with the Superhub, but I have with the Ambit.

Re: Upgrade
your welcome. did they put a return sticker within the box for the old modem? if not you can dispose of that, local dump will take it off your hands.

No, they didn't. I'll keep hold of it anyway, in the event the "Super" Hub turns out to be a damp squib. And, I've never had a problem with it (old modem).
Thanks again.

Re: Upgrade
Once the superhub is activated, the NTL120 (silver ambit) will turn in to a paperweight. It's MAC will be removed from your account, and the system will no longer let it connect to the network.
So no point in keeping hold of it.

Re: Upgrade
The old NTL modem will not work on 30Mb and it will have struggled on 20Mb as it should only have only been used on a 10Mb connection and most agents will replace them on sight as they are an antique and only fit for the bin.

An NTL120 is around 10 years old and compared to todays modems an antique and should be replaced on site.

Re: Upgrade
OK, thanks to you good people I managed to get it connected. It will now connect when wired to the PC, but not when connected to my Linksys router. I earlier configured it to "Modem Mode" and "Wireless Off". Now, I cannot gain access via 192.168.0.1. I get "Cannot display the webpage". I have tried the SuperHub pinhole reset, router reboot, etc.
When connected via the PC I am getting around 33Mb down and 3Mb up.
You lot should get paid!
