Upgrade costs - M to M+
Morning -
Anybody "in the know" able to tell me what the cost would be going from M TV to M+ when I currently have BB XL (30 MB) and M 'Phone?
Not a great TV watcher but thinking of maybe at some stage getting TiVo which, currently, requires a minimum of M+ TV.

Your best off ringing Virgin Media directly as they will probably do some kind of special deal catered to you. 
If all was standard price your bill should be around the £39 mark. But I'd go for the above^

I just moved house and paid £10 to move my services, upgraded to the tivo 500 for free and upgraded to 30 meg broadband. So I'm now on M+ Tv, M phone and XL BB, which sounds like what you are looking at, for £41.95 a month I think. It actually saved me some money as the V+ monthly charge on M+ is 5 quid and Tivo is only 3!

That's not bad for what you have, especially with access to catch-up TV. As far as I can tell, if you add M+ your package will go up to £38.90 but as aldo posted if you take TiVo you can add a further £3.00.
The M+ package for TV doesn't look too shabby. Plenty of decent channels for you to get your teeth into.

My bill raised by £9.50 per month: £6.50 for the M+ TV package (a minimum for 500GB TiVo) and £3 for the TiVo service itself. I was hesitant at first but I'll be damned if I can't watch broadcast TV without it!
As a side note I filled up the hard-drive even just on M+ with 500GB TiVo to about 70% within a few weeks of ownership, hours of shows to enjoy, demonstrating that you don't necessarily need the L or XL packages to get your use out of the box. To be fair though, it was Rugby World Cup and I had everything recording from that in HD.

It's pretty good. It took me about a week to get used to it. I would have to say that as of right now I couldn't say 100% that it's a game changer or a must have. I think it's still "learning" my viewing habits because some of the suggestions haven't been great. I'm pretty sure I've still to properly discover all it has to offer too.
The main thing is the extra storage and improved search facility. Still got my V+ box, it's now in the bedroom. The wife mainly uses that now to record Americas Next Top Model, Greys Anatomy etc....
P.S. I don't like the remote control

It's funny that , when it was reviewed on the Gadget show they also said the same. They mainly said the buttons weren't laid out as well as the Sky+ remote , he commented on how you could virtually close your eyes and locate the Sky remotes main buttons. Only a minor niggle I guess and open to different peoples perception.

Because Sky never change the remote. Any remote that you get used to you can do that with.

I guess your right , however Chad isn't the first I've seen to comment on the remote , at the end of the day I suppose a remote is hardly a game changer when you consider TIVOs other great features.

It'd probably be more accurate to describe the TiVo as an entertainment changer, rather than a game changer, seeing as it doesn't play any kind of game. 
The remote is f'ing cock-eyed, though, in the sense that it's a dodgy shape and the navigation part at the top (arrows/OK button) would be better just below the play controls. The whole thing being shaped like a peanut is stupid... I'd gladly use the V+ remote I still have, but it lacks a couple of keys you need to operate the TiVo. Perhaps an ergonomic universal remote which can learn keys would be the best solution.

If you're not using the phone, then dump it
TeleWest argued for nearly 15 minutes of the benefits, but I suggested they look at the usage history and agreed
Strangely I was moved to M+ automatically, so compare your recent bills
Initially I was concerned, but looked back at previous emails and found they were planning to do it at no additional cost
I then briefly added Virgin Mobile, but what was sold as PAYG turned out not to be so it didn't last very long!
However, over the next 12 months the package cost increased
So earlier this year I terminated the TV package in favour of Freeview
