I think you will probably find they're very few people having problems, they're 220,000+ VM TiVos out there, they're bound to be people having problems just like with any complex product. Just like there are plenty of people having problems with V+s.

That's a very negative attitude. If we were all to adopt that view nobody would ever upgrade to anything new.

I have three Tivo's in my house and I am perfectly happy with all three. The Tivo is a huge step forward in PVR technology. Those that are complaining are focusing on, in my opinion, very minor niggles.

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2

l have two Tivo's in my household and they are light years ahead of Virgin's other boxes and its certainly the best money l have spent on STB's but of course there will be a few niggles and l expect these will be ironed out in the coming months and my advice to those who have a few problems is just be a little more patient.

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2

That's a fair point i suppose. What about the red button, does it support things like sky sports match choice yet as this is a service we do use on a regular basis.

The red button will be added to Tivo in the coming months and will support Sky Sports match choice.

If you use red button I would wait until there is parity with the V+.

Don't you mean the following " And this new box leaves Sky+ looking like a relic from a bygone era "

Interesting to see the two companies comparisons

Virgin Medias http://tivo.virginmedia.com/v2/tivo-table.php

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2

If I had to play devils advocate , I'd like the TIVO software with Sky's dynamic EPG and Sky's superior recording hours.

I'll grant you the Dynamic EPG but what do you mean by the "superior recording hours"?

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2

Isn't the extra storage on a sky box taken up by its on demand service? You know, the one Virgin customers can access without any drop in storage capacity or broadband speed.

Meaning VM TIVO will record 120 hrs HD but due to Sky using Mpeg 4 their 1tb box will record 240 hrs HD. I suppose this will change with VM if they ever make the switch.

No as the Sky+HD 1TB is actually 1.5TB , 1TB for personal use and 500gb for Anytime.

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2

I hope when the red button comes to TiVo it is more stable than it is on the V+ at times! In relation to mpeg4 it is only legacy STB that are holding VM back from switching?
