Re: The iPhone thread

The Guardian's done some comparisons between the various networks and their different tariffs, and come up with some spreadsheets.

Conclusions?

Generally, Three comes out cheapest in many of the contract plans if you're looking at large data or phone use, though O2 and Orange also work out cheaper. On multiple occasions, at least one (and often two or three) of O2, Three and Orange works out cheaper than a SIM-only contract. Note though - I'll emphasis again - this doesn't say anything about minutes, texts or data (which are very hard to compare directly in this sort of analysis).

Well I presume these are personal accounts rather than business. I have a business account with Vodafone, which has 4x iphone 4's, a HTC, a Nokia, and two data cards, wth 3000 shared minutes, and a huge shared data/text package, as well as insurance on all of them. My bill varies between about £350 and £450 per month (depending on how many calls are made from overseas).

So looking at the graphs, I don't think I have a bad package.

Re: The iPhone thread

It looks like many people are having this issue and the latest FB update seems to have only made it worse. Lets hope they sort it out soon.

Re: The iPhone thread

I've just checked Vodafone's website... the "£59 pre-order cashback" has ended...And miraculously the upfront costs of the phone have been reduced

https://www.vodafone.co.uk/brands/ip...hone/index.htm

e.g.

- 24 month contract at £36 per month: 16GB 4S was £159 upfront - £59 pre-order cashback = £100. Now it is £99, the same as the other networks...

- 18 month contract at £36 per month: 16GB 4S was £259 - £59 pre-order cashback = £200. Now it is £169, again around the same as the others which do 18 month contracts (e.g. on the equivalent O2 tariff it's £169.99 upfront... Orange & T-Mobile don't seem to have 18 month info up, and Three only does 24 month contracts).

I think it's safe to assume that the Guardian used standard personal tariffs and prices.

Trying to baffle customers into thinking they are getting a good deal, when they aren't, is something that most of the high street retail industry does on a daily basis. So I don't suppose we should expect any different from phone companies.

If Apple's servers crash, does that mean there'll be an Apple and Blackberry crumble?
