Virgin Media will make available through its on-demand TV service a range of content from Sky's basic and premium channels, including the newly acquired VMtv channels.

It also taken over a year to get Sky Movies Classics HD

Wot do people think about this idea?
Great theory

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2011) Vol. III.

If Virgin have the rights to show movies etc through Sky Anytime and have secured a few new HD channels why don't they give subscribers a proposed launch date? Movies, DVD's, albums all get release dates, everything in the entertainment industry does. It's the old story Virgin just leave customers in the dark. Surely if they gave a proposed launch date it would give people an incentive to stay and not go through the hassle of changing to Sky. Really is shocking that they publicise nothing. Very poor as ever Or is it that the launch of these channels etc is so far away it would drive people to Sky. Certainly looks like the latter at the moment.

I don't know, maybe they have to sort out things with the content providers themselves for advertisement, pictures, metadata and the like. There's a reason its took a year since they announced they had a deal with Sky, presumably there is more red tape to get through first.

Its not just sign a piece of paper and click 'go', things are significantly more complicated, especially when the whole deal rested on another deal and other terms that we will never see or hear of.

Good point , its like when a certain few on here say VM customers should be granted access to Sky Go WHY , Sky has done deals with other broadcasters to include content for its own customers both online and when away from home , its upto VM to provide its own customers with this facility , I believe they do have a VM player.

Totally agree, both companies have their own USP's and you shouldn't expect to get the same on both services.

Obviously things like Sport and Movies should be made available to all at at fair price, but the little extras shouldn't be expected.

Sorry. Could Virgin Media launch something similar to Sky Go ? For example Virgin Media player on the move and when will Virgin Media player have sky sports on it ?

Yes, it's possible. They have signed deals for mobile content in the past with the likes of Disney, but we never heard anything afterwards. It must be costly to do, so it got shelved?

I agree , I can personally see Sky adapting their Movies offering in the future as streaming takes off more , it could be possible to see Lovefilm , Netflix , Sky Movies apps all competing for your business on TIVO , Youview connected TVs etc.
