20 - 30Mb Upgrade on a Loyalty Discount
I'm trying to complete this offer: http://shop.virginmedia.com/existing...broadband.html I called and the salesperson was aware of the offer, however said that I would need to pay a difference of £4.50'ish on top of my current bill (as well as the one-off fee).
She said this was because I am currently on the 'XXX' deal, I believe because I have XL TV, phone and broadband and that because this deal would then no longer be valid the upgrade would not apply to me. So I checked my bill and it says I'm currently paying £37 a month for broadband, with a discount of £28 (listed as 'Sky Premiums Combo Loyalty Discount'). However the offer at the above web address says that after the upgrade I'll pay just £18.50 a month for my broadband.
Why am I paying £37 a month for XL(20) broadband when this offer allows for a monthly cost of £18.50 in addition to an increase in broadband speed?
Thanks, any snippets from my bill wanted just ask.

I'm not saying you're a liar jb66, but my bill begs to differ:

37.00 - 28.00 = ?
That's right, you're paying £9 a month for a service that should cost £19.50. Quit complaining.

And I'm trying to pay them £30 more for the rental of a modem which enables a service, which they say should cost me £1 less than that. So surely I should be saving an additional £1 a month, not paying an extra £5 as well as the fee (which is what they said I would have to do if I went ahead with the deal as advertised).

If you upgrade to vip50 you pay £101 and get 50meg, sky sports and movies hd and your second box becomes a vhd

Re: 20 - 30Mb Upgrade on a Loyalty Discount
So you're paying less than you should, and you want even more service for even less money? Jeez. Can't please some people. Read the T&Cs.
Quote:
Upgrade your broadband: First 3 months of Broadband XL and XXL at current standard broadband M and L pricing when upgrading to XL or at current standard XL pricing if upgrading to XXL; non-broadband customers adding broadband L, XL or XXL will get Broadband L, XL or XXL half price for six months.
All customers must have, or add, a phone line. Customers on non-standard pricing (such as loyalty discounts) must move to standard pricing to be eligible for offer. Virgin Media reserves the right to withdraw or amend discount if you change any part of your offer package.

While you're at it, fetch me a free sammich and then pay me to eat it.

You're paying them £30 activation fee. Has nothing to do with rental of a modem.
It should cost £1 less but then you should also be paying £10.50 more. So again, quit complaining.

Interesting, I am already paying for two V+ HD boxes... but what you're suggesting also comes with a free superhub without any one-off fees, correct?

Re: 20 - 30Mb Upgrade on a Loyalty Discount
Yeah, but the VIP package goes wonky with two v+. You could use the £30 to pay towards a £49 TiVo, then it would still be £101 and free install

Re: 20 - 30Mb Upgrade on a Loyalty Discount
OK that doesn't sound half bad, how would I go about taking that route? Would it replace one of my V+ HD boxes? Is the TiVo service better than a V+ HD box anyway?

Re: 20 - 30Mb Upgrade on a Loyalty Discount
I think so, its like the new v+, It doesn't have reminders or red button working as yet, but has a massive 500gb HDD which is perfect for storing HD. It also has youtube, bbciplayer apps which are very handy. You can go back several weeks with the bbc iplayer app.
Anyway I think its better value than the package you are on at the moment

Lol. 500GB hasn't been "massive" since 2005. Massive these days is 4TB.
