Is this a familiar/known fault ??? HELP!

I have a Samsung V+ box.

I've noticed recently that on most channels every so often the picture will judder just for a spilt mini second, almost as if a frame of the film has been taken out (does this make sense?) not sure how else to explain it.

Some people may remember the same sort of problem a couple of years back with the Sky Sports channels.

Can anyone help or just a case of calling them out for a look?

Re: Is this a familiar/known fault ??? HELP!

The decoder can skip or repeat frames if necessary to keep the timing accurate, but this is rare and only affects the odd channel (like the Sky Sports fault you mention). If most or all channels are doing it, this sounds like a fault with the box, but I've never come across it before. I suppose it could happen if a crystal has gone off frequency.

If you rewind then play again, does it skip in the same place?

Spider... just to let you know I found out what the problem was. For an unknown reason my Bravia has switched on a "Film Mode" in the settings (not done by me.... the other day it turned the backlight setting down by itself too). Turning this off seems to have fixed the problem....

Well I would never have guessed that. Is it trying to convert 24fps to 25fps or something?
