They are on the whole a great company but they are not so good about information.
For e.g. Premierhsip starts very soon, but no word on what Red button functionality we are getting... I asked VM Twitter if we would be getting Match Choice/Foorball first... they couldn't say.... WHAT? THIS close no-one can say yet if it's happening or not?? It just seems a bit backward!

I understand all of this but if you do not like the service then move as I'am more than happy with what I pay for. If my opinions offend the get a grip? Most would do well to stop posting as all they seem to be doing is trying to endorse SKY.
RANT OVER!!!!!

Virgin seem to be more conservative with the money they have and hold out for a deal or until a point where customers are leaving where they'll pay the norm (I don't mean Sky Atlantic where Sky are obviously asking a high carriage fee to pay for the heavy investment they've put in).

"Virgin Media today confirmed Good Food HD will launch within the next 3 months on it's award winning TV platform."
If something then happens which prevents the channel launching, it'd be good if Virgin would then release another announcement explaining the delay.
Maybe Virgin don't want to take this approach with their announcements, and I don't want to speak on behalf of anyone, however I'm sure most customers would appreciate this approach more than "Coming Soon".
|
They don't give timescales because the number of unknowns is countless. If there were delays you'd be annoyed that they delayed it so by not announcing anything specific until the day before they don't fallback on their promises.

We want a better TV service not go to Sky. You seem to be the one who gets offended when people criticise VM, you are fully entitled to your opinion as are the rest of us.

I was a Sky customer for 13 years and happy but left due the BS that they were giving near to the end. The reason that I get offended is because of the way the staff get replied to and also get slated as well. So no it is not due to VM at all I have some respect for people that are trying to help others?

I do not see any personal attacks in this thread, people are just saying about VM , if Ben chooses to defend explain what is his position is that is up to him and people are equally entitled to explain there reasons why they do not agree!

I give up as it is pointless, It is all a pile of ? No matter what people post now on this thread they seem to get headed off by the SKY brigade.

That's understandable. I was just posting what I'd prefer as a customer. I like having timescales, even if they do change.

Never mind standing for consumer rights? I'am standing for the staff rights

Just to clarify, in case I've misinterpreted your post or you've misinterpreted mine, I 100% respect staff on this site and what they post. I understand their hands are tied when it comes to info.
Ben presented a scenario were he feels Virgin are damned if they do and damned if they don't. I agree with his outlook and suggested an alternative announcement method that some Virgin customers may find more useful and customer friendly.
I was in no way trying to have a go at him. I was just stating what I'd like to see as a Virgin customer.
I'm sure Ben will let me know via PM if I've offended him.

I asked you all two pages ago to get back on topic and stop with all the bickering please. If you can't stay on topic don't say anything at all.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2011) Vol. III.
...anway. I have no interest in going to Sky indeed my post states that I believe VM are a great company and no opinion "offends" so no more needed to be said on that point really.
But my broader point is valid. I don't understand how Sky is able to let their customers know in advance what services are coming and VM on the whole let us know, somtimes, only on the day it happens. They are not very good in the PR department.
I more than appreciate Ben, Spider, MB etc's posts here, as well they know.

I do agree that communication needs to be better, but then again Virgin may like the element of surprise? Take for example Channel 5 HD which arrived the same day as Sky.
Who knows? Dave, Really etc. may arrive the same day as Sky; but it looks like we will have to 'wait and see'

So you know for certain the dates of all the channel launches on Sky?
No. You have to wait and see like you do with everything in life that is out of your control.

Sky can be better on the linear front, but Virgin certainly has an advantage with content delivery since they can host a on demand service without the download/buffer bit that Sky Anytime+ has.
Based on TiVo and hardware wise Virgin Media can do more based on recording since 3 channels can be recorded at once while an earlier recording is viewed, or 2 channels while watching a third. Don't see that on Sky.
Sky also does not promote content based on your show ratings.
Many people are happy with what's currently available on Virgin, but there are always people that want more.
TiVo is still in the early stage as a product of Virgin Media, and there is certainly more to come.
As I've said earlier, we will have to wait and see.
Also, no childish comments please as you have just demonstrated the last time I used that phrase.

Its TV over the internet, get access on all internet devices and you've got a winner.
