TIVO with SCART

Can TV be connected to a non HD TV? On the small print on VM site one of the TIVO conditions is must have HD TV. Will they come out and connect up to a normal old widescreen CRT Sony TV?

Thanks

Re: TIVO with SCART

Thanks so they will come and fit it to a SCART TV? As I thought it said HD TV only?

Also how do I get the V+ moved for nothing as different call centre staff tell me I can't have that deal!

Re: TIVO with SCART

What the terms say is:

HD TV set required and TiVo box connected with HDMI cables required to view HD content

Can't see anywhere where it says you need an HDtv to get TiVo itself

Re: TIVO with SCART

SCART is definitely supported.

If the small-print you read was "HD TV set required and TiVo box connected with HDMI cables required to view HD content", it's just badly worded. It fact it's very badly worded because you can view HD content even if you don't have an HDTV and HDMI. (Please let me know if it was something else you saw)

At the moment there is a video formatting problem with some 4:3 TVs, but that won't affect you.

edit: As Ben says

That is what I read so thanks for confirming. I agree it is badly worded!

Re: TIVO with SCART

The scart output is only COMPOSITE PAL at the moment, it seems nobody has bothered to enable the RGB output.

It is RGB, but at the moment is not signalled correctly on SCART pin 16, so some TVs may not realise RGB is available.

So when are they going to sort it ?

It seems that the scart switching signal on pin 8 doesn't work either

There is no RGB that I can see on my TV, and my TV displays RGB with no problems usually even if it doesn't switch to it automatically.

but i'm wondering whether (due to the missing pin connection) actaully means:

A/ Tivo is actually outputting RGB signal but it's not 'reporting' that correctly, or

B/ Tivo is not outputting RGB signal at all to some TV's

expect someone will know for sure

It's meant to be in the next update, but I haven't confirmed yet.

Definitely does for me. What make you think it doesn't? (Most kit ignores pin 8 anyway, as WSS takes precedence)

They won't display RGB - as nicko sees

It's A. I guess it's another leftover from the US TiVo - SCART is an alien concept to them.

Because Tivo doesn't select the RGB input on my TV when I switch Tivo on like my V+ did or any other scart device.
