Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2011) Vol. III.
Looking at the schedules for Sky Atlantic, it would be more appropriate if they named the channel "US Gold". People are actually willing to pay extra just to get this channel, really?

Don't underestimate the appeal of X-File reruns and repeats of Star Trek Voyager.
Personally I think the channel is over-hyped. Sure, there's some good stuff on there (Games of Thrones) but I'm glad VM didn't accept Sky's initial asking price, bearing in mind the ratings for the channel which aren't great.
I'm sure VM will get it, eventually, and hopefully not for a "we have to add £1.50 to your line rental because of this channel" price.

I would be more than happy watching X-Files, ER and Star Trek, but I cannot believe anyone would be willing to pay extra for this channel.

Well yes they are, and that's ok, as we all spend our cash in the way we think best
It's also ok to not want to pay extra and to fail to understand why others do
That's the way life works, yes really

I have difficulty understanding why folk spend money on all sorts of things
But I respect their right to do it,

To be fair, lots of channels show repeats, it's the new content they show which is why I want it.
Boardwalk Empire, Game of Thrones, Treme, The Borgias, Blue Bloods - all of these I wanted to watch - I cannot think of another channel which has so many programmes I would like to watch.
Alas, I cannot get Sky, so I must wait for VM to get the channel and if it cost extra I would pay it and not be too fussed - a worthwhile investment to my mind.

Well I thought it was interesting. Especially if the logos on TiVo will be changing.
(Much more interesting than the talk of a single foreign programme channel that normal dominates these pages!)

http://www.mediaweek.co.uk/News/Most...-VoD-deal-Sky/
UKTV signs major VoD deal with Sky
UKTV, the digital TV broadcaster, has launched its first video-on-demand service, after signing a deal that will bring classic BBC programming such as 'Fawlty Towers' to Sky Anytime+.
Doctor Who: among programmes to be available on demand to Sky customers
As part of the deal, Sky will add three high-definition UKTV channels to the two it already offers. Watch HD and Dave HD are scheduled to launch in October and Alibi HD will go live in 2012.
Now I'm only guessing here but with Eden HD and Good Food HD already on Sky thats going to be 5 channels in HD made by a company that VM own 50% in that we have not been told we will get by a certain date if ever.......
Well done VM you should be ashamed.

I just fail to understand why VM do not carry these channels.
I am beginning to wonder if VM have enough band width to carry anymore HD channels.
