Correct me if wrong but did anyone here actually pay £200+£40 install as a new customer? The point of pre-registering was that we were avoiding install costs and getting £50 off the activation fee.

As far as I'm aware this 'saving' never really existed as the boxes (from general release) are now much cheaper. I stupidly upgraded to XL so I could get Tivo, now that's not compulsory, so I will be heading back down to L, having paid a month of XL for no apparent reason.

The refund (should it actually happen) will even this out.

I'll wait for my next bill and check, I wish I had more faith but I expect there to be problems of one sort or another.

As almost everyone here already had services of some form or another, then I doubt anyone here paid the £199 fee.

The New Customer price was just that and if you didn't already have services you couldn't pre-register

The 1TB box has been on sale at the higher price for almost 3 months - it was avaliable to new customers from 18th April

To your knowledge have those people been offered a £100 discount? Would seem in line with the other credits being offered to pre-reg customers.

No, why would they?

It is only pre-reg customers that are getting the reduction, because the original reason for the pre-reg was to reward existing customers of Virgin Media by offering them a reduction on the price of TiVo when it was launched.

This further reduction to all the pre-reg customers is an extention of that. In effect all pre-reg customers are getting the 1TB for £100 less than the standard price was at the point it was ordered.

Re: Is the TiVo charge now £3 per month on all TV packs?

Well I haven't contacted anyone about this and just received the following email:
Quote:
Hello

Thanks for being one of the first to get Virgin Media TV powered by TiVo. We hope you're enjoying next generation TV as much as we are.

We know you bought our 1TB TiVo® box for £149.95. Since then, we've dropped the price to a brilliant £99.95 to celebrate the launch of our new ad campaign.

We always want to make sure you're getting the best deal there is. That's why we're giving you a £50 refund on your Virgin Media account, so you'll be paying our new and improved price. Your refund will appear on your bill in the next two months, and you'll spot it as a £50 credit.

If you've already given our team a call your £50 refund will be with you in the next two months. We hope you enjoy your brand new TiVo® service!

Kind regards

The Virgin Media team
So it looks like its going to be an automatic refund with no action required.

I wouldn't expect them to, just curious if they were applying refunds across the board or just to pre-reg customers. I'm sure a few of the April customers are cheesed off at paying twice what the box now costs just a few weeks after install.

No l am not cheesed off as l knew l would have to pay a premium for being one of the first to get a tivo so l have absolutely no problem and if they give me a refund then it says they are rewarding their most loyal customers and not the fairweather ones.

I agree, but as a new customer I would also feel hard done to because of the even larger drop in price from £240 to £100 in a matter of weeks.
