Best way to send a 600ish mb file to someone?

Hi.

I have a wav file of a dj mix that I did that I would like to send to a friend.

I thought about using a yousendit type site but I think that has a file size limit for free use.

The person is not tech savvy at all so the simpler the better if possible.

Can anyone help please?

Thanks a lot.

Convert wav to mp3 would be the best way to start with, then rar it down into sizable chunks, then send anyway you want.

Burn to CD and stick the CD in the post.

Thanks guys, trying megaupload at this second but will definitely try your suggestions.

I realise the CD way is the best as I can index tracks etc. but I'd like them to have it tonight.

MP3 is your only real choice then...MP3 @256kbps and then post a CD for higher quality.

Compressing a compressed file of this size rarely gives you anything. That's the whole point of compression.

Re: Best way to send a 600ish mb file to someone?

another one for Dropbox if the file needs to stay uncompressed, or indeed if it doesn't.

otherwise, as mentioned, convert to MP3 (or preferably something a little newer and better like M4a/AAC or WMA).

Re: Best way to send a 600ish mb file to someone?

If you can mp3 it and get it down to 200mb or less you can upload it to http://www.mediafire.com/

It is free and simple to use.

Re: Best way to send a 600ish mb file to someone?

ill add another vote for dropbox, it can play the track direct via its flash interface (it does same with photos) if thats not sufficient then move it into your public folder and send them the url.. plus you get to see how good dropbox is, hell you could even up in its current wav format if you wanted, depending on its quality mp3 or ogg wouldnt halm it much and you might be able to improve it with filters/replaygain

megabannerupload.net ? in archives ? or posting a cd ?
heck of alot excess effort imo, no need

Jeez, why not just send it via IM (MSN, Skype, Yahoo, etc.)? No size limit, and direct transfer.
