Recording repeats on other channels when set to NEW only
In the last two weeks or so TiVo has started recording repeats on other channels of the same program.
Noticed this with hotel inspector on CH5, The Gadget Show on CH5 & Come Dine with me on CH4.
It records repeats off other channels despite being set to record NEW only.
Any of you getting the same problem?
I have sent a couple of them to NickO to investigate at the VM community forum but has anyone else noticed this? It's becoming annoying as it is stopping other things being recorded as it is recording these repeats and they are higher up the priority list etc.

Re: Recording repeats on other channels when set to NEW only
Is this from a wishlist or a series link? If it's the latter then they're probably suggestions (as a series link should only record from the channel on which it was set up), which I don't think are affected by the 28 day rule.

Come dine with me is a series link and some of the others are suggestions but its a pain how it works it out as they are all in the same folder.

Re: Recording repeats on other channels when set to NEW only
I always set everything to New and Repeats for all new series (i.e. first run series). I've never had any problems as TiVo recognises the new episode has been recorded already and doesn't record the repeats (unless I've permanently deleted any of the new episodes from the recently deleted folder).

Re: Recording repeats on other channels when set to NEW only
Ah, I see. Yes, if you record a programme then any episodes of that programme recorded as suggestions will get put into the same folder. I actually find it quite useful (for example, I've had a few older episodes of Time Team recorded as suggestions that I wouldn't have known about if it hadn't put them in the folder with the episodes of the current series that I'd recorded). At least you can see by the icon which ones are your own recordings and which ones are suggestions (the suggestions have a thumbs up on top of the icon).

It shouldnt make a difference if I set to new it should set to new but as the repeats are episodes that it hasnt recorded before but are episodes from older series it is recording them all... so I have set it to new only and it should only record the new ones.
Suggestions should also not record the same show when you have set a series link also and it is set to new only.

Maybe, maybe not. Whatever the case, suggestions don't take into account whether or not you have a series link or wishlist set for anything. They work on the thumbs ratings of programmes.

Could just be data errors - There are some data errors about affecting Tivo (and some affecting V+ - which episodes are new, part of a series etc) which might affect any recordings settings, series links or suggestions - might get better as time goes on but there will always be some of these

Suggestions should not be recorded if the same programme is being recorded as a series link. I regularly get two copies of the Formula1 for example...

Re: Recording repeats on other channels when set to NEW only
I had the same problem with a series link, recording every episode on every channel including the main channel and the +1 channel an hour later
Deleted the series link and recreated, and this appears to have resolved the issue
