Talk Talk to block malware.

Following up from installing a monitoring system that some on here labelled "Stalk Stalk" as it worked by accessing websites a short while after users and sniffing them for Malware, Talk Talk has announced they are going to actively start blocking those Malware infected sites they found..

The system is apparently an opt-in system and is part of a package designed, seemingly, to make Talk Talk more family friendly, as the package also includes controls to block pornographic, violent or other kinds of sites parents don't want their kids to access, and also a "Homework" setting that blocks various sites (including facebook) when kids are supposed to be doing homework.

What do you guys think about the system? There are several members who I think I can predict their response, but we'll see.

Personally, I think if it is implemented correctly, it could be a good thing for Talk Talk's customers (and probably a lot more people besides) as it could stop them getting (and therefore spreading) viruses and other Malware. At least for a while until the Malware authors find a way around it.

As for the Parental Controls, I like that idea as well. While I don't know if I would use them if I had kids, it's nice to have the option.

Simple because its Opt in if it was implemented on VM i for one would never be turning it on.

It will be interesting to see how long it is before they start to add additional extras.

I am just glad that VM are not doing this because they would make it opt out just like the VM Advanced Network Error Search

not to mention the degrading of service from the extra equipment being used, by the tome the traffic has been through the service providing routers, then through qos, then through phorm, then if they added filtering into the mix, you would be adding at least 10ms to your pings

it wouldn't surprise me, do you know otherwise? i thought the only 2 major isps using phorm were virgin and talktalk?

either way, i couldn't give a crap what talktalk are doing because they are the worst POS service provider in the land

Both VM and Talk Talk looked at it but they both decided not to use Phorm for now !

While this system uses Huawei hardware, as does Phorm (or so I believe), there is no indication that Huawei is Phorm. Also bear in mind that Huawei is a huge company and as such, a lot of the uks comms infrastructure so there is a good chance that your voice and data comms will at some point be carried by Huawei hardware.

WOW!! Well they say if it sounds too good to be true then it probably is.

Personally if I had Talk-Talk (and thank the Lord that I don't) then I wouldn't touch it with yours.
