It doesnt seem integrated whereas it should automatically show me all episodes available when I click "go to catchup tv" from the epg even if I have just had the box installed today as this isnt something that is stored on my box.

If you are searching through the EPG Tivo reasonably assumes you are looking to view the episode listed on the EPG. As soon as that is added to catch up it will play from there rather than send you to the search menu. As explained the boxes EPG data is populated day by day so a modicum of patience is required when the box is first installed!
If you want to see what episodes of BGT are available - past, present and future you simply go to 'Search and Browse'. When you type B it appears and under Episode Guide every episode for the last 4 years is listed and last week show is available to view on demand.

Thanks Andy, it would be handy to have a search feature within the on demdand screen as dont want to have to trawl through lots of other episodes to get to the one I want if that makes sense.

Ahh. No experience with those shows. More of a drama/scifi man myself. No problems with the likes of Fringe or NCIS (on FX); occasionaly hiccups with Hawaii Five-0, House and NCIA:LA but nothing major.

Sounds like that was a Wishlist rather than a Series Link.

Yeah - Good point! - it could be worth adding that as a further option for that section.
Although if you use the A-Z there is no more than about 20 for any letter so it is just as quick. Dont forget the 'ch' down acts as 'page down' - which also speeds things up.

Richard,
Despite what others are posting, the playback using the "c" hardly ever works. I have mine for over a week and during that time I was only able to use it once. If I try to use it I am directed straight to the VOD menu and have to start all over again.
The V+ was much better and simpler to use.

It has worked on the couple of occasions I have used it but I do understand it is down at the moment. Not ideal - but teething problems (which should really have been sorted before launch) hardly undermine the long term value of the feature.
The V+ is better and simpler in the same way an abacus is better and simpler than a PC
In terms of functionality v+ cannot compete with Tivo. People just need to get used to Tivo - obviously they will not initially find it as simple as a system they are experienced in using.

Its all very well saying people will have to get used to it, I can do that very quickly but if features that are there but not working are you saying we have to get used to these issues?

Of course not. I think that is quite clear from my posts!
I just find it odd how some people seem fixated with a small number of very minor temporary 'teething problems' when there are so many positives!

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2
Well I am new to TiVo so im sure you can understand that I havent discovered everything yet but I do find that the box is slower than sky and the V+ (will this improve in the coming days?)
The other problems should not be there if it had been tested properly and as it is a premium product virgin media should have these rectified immediately.

Absolutely - it takes time to discover all the benefits.
I agree about the problems - should be sorted by now. These seem more related to the ongoing service (EPG data, catch-up links) than the hardware.
I find the box much faster and responsive than v+ but I didnt use it much during the first 24 hours. The initial data download may be slowing things down for you.
Some people have also reported a slowing down as the hard drive gets full but as I have not been above 12% full I couldnt comment on that.

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2
The EPG data is really starting to **** me off everyone going on about tivo is so clever but only if the data is there.
Click records like 6 times a week due to there being no episode data at all
Ace of Cakes new season set to new only nothing had to set it to new and reruns recorded 32 episodes in a week
Mythbusters new season new only recorded the wrong epsiodes had to set it to new and reruns
Bear Grylls set to new only recorded 6 random epsiodes a week ago which wasnt new then nothing which is good as there isnt.
Working ones
Fatal Attractions
Deadliest Catch
Megastructures
10 O'Clock Live
The Hotel
Monster Inside Me
MasterChef
Dual survival
Suggestions started off well with things I missed to set up Series Links for now its just recording 1 out of 5 that I might be worth a look at.
How many SL's do you have I have 29 so far but I keep forgetting stuff as I never see the adverts for them lol thats the annoying part of a PVR you need to be reading a TV guide to see whats new

In the olden days, before TV recorders, the channels were meticulous with their timing.
Now, in the age of PVRs, they are sloppy.
Only in exceptional circumstances did programmes overrun, now it is the norm.

I`ve just learnt that the hard way. I came home from work and settled down to watch Dr Who after my tea and it finshed about 4 mins early.
Anyone know if it actually did start early or finish early or maybe the tivo clock is a few minutes out.

That happened with us on catch up and when I rewound it back to the point just before it stopped - lo and behold it played on to the end past the point where it stopped.

We had our install on Thursday and thus far I am impressed. Does anybody have any idea what games and apps may be added?

No offence here Andy but looking at your posts it would appear to me that you are either working for VM or TIVO , im not sure which.

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2
One thing you need to look out for. If you set up a series link for a programme, any new series link automatically goes to the bottom of the list of the series links and so lowest priority.
I set up a series links for Doctor Who Confidential both last weekend and yesterday and they didn’t work. Found out that there were 2 other series links programmes running at the time and one with padding on the end so Doctor Who Confidential didn’t record at the time as it was lowest priority.
Now I know Tivo will go off and find a repeat viewing of the programme and record that instead (assuming 1 is available), but you don’t know that at the time!
For me I just moved the series link up the priority list and it recorded the programme.
