What good has the reminder done you then?

That's a lot of what ifs. Like I said, I've never found it useful, my own memory servers well enough.
But I can empathise with others who would find the feature useful and miss it. But hopefully even those people will find the benefits of TiVo will help them overlook it.

No you're not. Just set it to record instead
Watching live TV completely negates the need for a DVR. Why spend £150-200 on something that you don't need if you still want to sit down when the schedulers tell you that "Corrie" is on
|
We tend to watch another channel as a filler until the event on the channel we want to watch is on
as for the example of the 6PM news as a reminder, we have to switch to SD to view the local news after HD. With no reminders on TIVO currently we are going to have to record two programmes, rather than a single reminder
We want TIVO for the storeage space and recommendations
The lack of reminders and red button are the two things that are currently missing from TIVO

I believe Carl most people like a mix of both , I'm watching the UTD vs Newcastle game tonight , I pay for Sky Sports to watch the game live, you seem to be under the illusion that we should watch everything timeshifted.

I do hope your assumption is correct as I personally use reminders all the time on my VHD box and to lose them would be a major inconvenience.

Sport has to be watched live if you can.

Can the menu system still be accessed whilst you are watching a recording? Or are you required to exit like the V+?

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2
Seriously though I always record cricket
Cuts out the very annoying ads between overs! while playing catch up.
Plus watching the Ashes a reminder to turn over in the early hours wasn't a lot
of good - If I was up, I'd remember why!

Never used reminders, have to agree with Carl, with three tuners why do you need to be told when to watch a show !

The recording you are watching should keep playing in the video window

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2
Unless I'm missing something there doesn't seem to be a way to get to a programs info page from the epg if it's currently showing?
Saw a film on sky movies I wanted to record that was nearly over, and as it's sky movies I knew it'd be on again, so wanted to go to the info page to find a future showing to record, but you don't seem to be able to do it? Info does nothing, and ok switches to the channel. Had to manually find the late night showing which kinda defeats the purpose of having tivo!

Whatever I want to watch, I will set it to record. Then, if I'm "not paying attention" (or whatever) I don't miss it. You have a HUGE hard drive. Use it! Reminders are redundant with DVRs.
|
Its not a matter of the size of hard drive... I dont want to watch the news delayed!!!!
Simple matter of the fact is there should be an option. Either use it or dont.
At the moment theres no option!

You can click on record and then click on Series Link and other option and then click on options and then you can click on a link that says future recordings which will tell you when it'son again. hth

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2
The more I read this thread the more I keep talking myself out of TIVO. It just doesn't look ready. So many basic features left out or problematic. Can anyone else confirm that the HDD NEVER, EVER spins down even in standby?

The point is, you shouldnt have too. Just looking at the few posts since it was mentioned surely proves it is a feature which is used....
