Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2
I am trying to work out if there is a way to keep the mini guide up for longer to. My Tivo was installed yesterday so lots of playing and learning to do.

Did the engineer move it or yourself? Did it just replace a V box was a new install?
Cheers

Press the record button and choose the appropriate option.
Yes, I didn't think realise this would work (because it didn't on the original Series1 model) but I just tried it once and found that it did

Sorry not sure I was clear on what I posted, I wasn't referring to an active recording but a programme previously recorded and watching afterwards.
So is pressing the record button correct still? At work now so cannot check myself!
If it is the record button then this is an example of the usability issue since just giving an option to "stop" is all that is required.
My wife is also missing the yellow button to delete a recording, she doesn't like having to go through menus to do a basic task, make it simpler please VM!

No! That does not work.
I had my tivo installed last Friday and am experiencing the same frustrations as you. Every time my wife encounters an issue with the interface I get that look and the same question follows " Did you know about this before you ordered this piece of c**p?". I'm sure you understand what I mean.

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2
The lack of a stop function is odd. The best I can suggest is to use pause instead.
Press Clear to delete a recording. Much quicker than yellow on the V+

It is very strange, this is really basic function. Cannot understand why Tivo hasn't had the basic command to simply stop a previously recorded programme you are watching, or is there another key which should be used. The remote control guide says the stop button should "Stops a show and takes you back to the programme information screen" yet I could clearly see the programme in the top right mini view continuing and then I had to press another button like TV to get out and watch live TV. Is this a bug?
Surely just having a "stop" option in the menu must be a requirement to add as it is so confusing if the mini view top right shows your recording continuing, can anybody from VM comment if they know anything?
I'll try the pause but as stated, to exit I just pressed the stop and then TV button and that put the programme into pause anyway from the look of things.

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2
Just got a call on my mobile to have the V+ relocated to another room for free with no extra monthly charge on TV XL (Not VIP)
Now I just need to get the V+ exchanged for a new one because it crashes twice a day!

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2
Well TIVO was installed yestarday and I'm glad I upgraded - already getting used to new funtions - I do like the option to bring up mini guide while you watching TV and press the blue button to narrow your search - HD option I really like.
A quick question but does anyone know if TIVO has a reminder option - I was trying to set programmes to remind but seem either I'm missing a trick or TIVO does not have the option to set reminders.

Nice to see you are in the same boat as I am (they have already asked me to get the V+ back but I am resisting!) and having to explain to the wife the value of all these great features and menu options, rather than keeping it simple and just use coloured buttons highlighted on the screen to do simple things like page up/down (rather than having to use the channel up/down to jump up/down a list of recordings say, so miss using the definition of the key), delete, etc. V+ had that simplicity level which helped with people who are not keen on technology so something VM to consider since would not be a big issue to do some usability enhancements on the UI over time.

There is no reminder option on Tivo. I really miss that as used it a lot on the V+.
Fixerman beat me to it!

Aaarrggghhh! This one is going in the "my pet hates" thread
You don't need reminders. You never did! Where you would normally set a reminder, just set it to record instead!!
