Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2
I can see padding becoming a big issue, just had a peak at the beginning of some of the suggestions that Tivo has recorded and a bunch of them start a few seconds into the show. Even one of my series link shows seem to have missed a few minutes at the beginning.

4) have you ever had multi-room?
Seems weird that mid range package users are being offered upgrade to free multi-room (i.e. TiVo plus V+HD)

1) Waiting for install, due to happen on Wednesday.
2) Yes, I currently have XL TV, L Broadband and M Phone
3) Yep.
4) Yeah, a few years ago when I was on VIP (when it cost £85)

Are there many people receiving the "An update on TiVo" e-mail. I received it earlier today. The e-mail reads as follows:
"Hello Charles
Thanks again for entering our prize draw to win one of our amazing TiVo® boxes. We know you didn't manage to get a free box this time round, but we've got something up our sleeves that we think you'll like.
We're busy rustling up an offer just for you, based on our 500GB TiVo box. It holds around 250 hours of standard TV, and we're launching it in May.
So, keep your eyes peeled for our exclusive offer. We'll pop it in the post for you soon, with a unique offer code that you'll need to quote.
While you're waiting, take another look at all the amazing things that Virgin Media TV powered by TiVo can do.
Click here to watch our demo video
The Virgin Media team
P.S. If you can't wait to get your hands on our next TiVo box, our 1TB box is available now."
Sorry if this is old news, just thought I'd share with you all.

I got that this afterrnoon.

Not going to bother now, fed up with speaking to offshore!

So on series link can you pad at beginning and end of programme. If so great but what about single recordings can you do the same?

yes, the only thing you can't do is set a default pad for every recording (at the moment). Just a click more per recording until it gets sorted. (i hope)

Ah that's OK then. Panic over. Install tomorrow can't wait.
Although Zantarous pointed out an issue still.

Has anyone got any further info on this.
Thanks in advance

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2
Im Confused about costs on my Contract
Got our new Contract and am having TiVo installed on Wednesday but i think the prices on this new contract are wrong.
This is what it has on it
Monthly service charges £65.10
Other items £149.95
I take it the £149.95 is the box but why is it showing at £65.10 for Monthly charges?
We will have Tivo box and normal box and VHD box so i think they have got that wrong as we were paying around £110 month with the Tivo box.

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2
This sounds really basic but I could with some advice to stop a recording you are watching.
When I am watching a recording, if I decide to stop the recording and press the stop key, I am presented with a screen with the options to “Resume Playing, Delete Now, Bonus Features, Explore this show, More Options” and the recording seems to be still playing in the picture box top right. What seems to be missing is the obvious option of “stop programme”!
The only way to exit seems to be to press the TV key so have I missed something here which seems really basic?
One of the consequences though is that when you do go back to the recording you start where you last watched which I thought was a feature Tivo didn’t have but is exactly what we want, rather than having to guess and use the forward/15minute jump keys to find out where you stopped before.
I am still fighting a rearguard action with my wife to defend my Tivo purchase. My family want to go back to the V+ as the UI was simpler and used more of the green/red/blue/yellow buttons to provide instruction for you e.g. page up/down were the green/red keys on V+ while you have to use the channel up/down to do the same on Tivo. It’s a battle but I will defend my Tivo purchase to the end! While Tivo has many great features, there certainly seems to be a weakness in usability design and something to enhance over time would help.
One other query if anybody can advise. If you watching a programme, you press the OK button to bring up the mini guide which my wife uses to scroll through channels. The only annoying thing is that if you stop for some time the mini guide will eventually disappear and if you go back to it again it returns to the begging of the channel lost when previously you may have already been though a good proportion of the list and so have to scroll down again. On V+ once you brought up the mini guide it stayed there until you decide to delete it. So another annoying niggle for my wide to have a dig at me so is there any way to stop the mini guide disappearing after around 20 seconds or so as it does now?

Looks like they've missed out the Sky premium channels
Double check they are not shown separately, if not I'd give them a ring.
