GRIZ
Did you request to keep the 3rd box when ordering? I have my Tivo coming tomorrow, just wondering if its worth calling today and requesting to keep the spare box.
Would involve extra cabling as we dont current have a V+ box in the living room. Would this be included in 1 eng visit?
Alternatively, I would quite like my multi-room charge dropping for the existing V+
Can a staff member shed any light?

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2
I don't want to keep my existing 2 x V+ HD boxes though. I want to replace them both if I do TIVO at all so want the best deal for that. I wouldn't keep more than two boxes even if I could for free as I just don't have space/need for more power sapping devices. One up, one down is enough for our house. I'd welcome a waived £3 and £6.50 fee certainly if I upgrade. But then, I'd never upgrade for 2 x £149 upfront as it's too much when I have already invested in 2 x V+ boxes. I'd like a little bit of a sweeter deal for loyal high spending customers. Just my opinion, I know others will say I'm cheap.

You could get the 1Tb box now and the smaller 500Gb box in May to replace both of your existing boxes, they will not give you a combined deal for 2 1Tb boxes.

Any idea if I will be offered a reduced rate for having one tivo 1tb and 1 exisiting V+?
Otherwise people wanting a multiroom install as a result of a Tivo install would seem to be getting a favourable rate.

Is it possible to get some input from VM staffers regarding this problem?

MKDR25,
Yes, I asked to keep my pre-existing 2 V+ boxes when I arranged the install and have one of them placed in a different room, all done under the new TIVO cost. Some one called a few days later saying the multi-room cost was being waived. I am waiting for my install this morning 8am-1pm slot, I would have thought I'd get a call from the engineer to give me an idea when by now though

I was expecting a call from the engineer for my morning install but it never came. In the end I called VM to be told my install was in the afternoon. The engineer turned up in the afternoon without calling. He was a very polite Polish chap. He was in and out in 30 mins. Very pleased with the TiVo but EPG rewind is not working. They are supposed to be working on it.
Let us know how you get on!
Good luck!

also concerned about install notification. I'm booked in for tomorrow PM but no call from engineer to confirm yet. Think I'll call and confirm myself.

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2
WOW, well I have just placed my order for the Tivo,(I hope ) At first I thought that I was going to get the run around as they said they were going to send me an email with a link to go register my interest and someone would get back to me at some point.
I said that I would prefer to order over the phone, was put on hold, when she came back I was put through to the Tivo department.
My package is VIP 50 and after a little confusion, about the cost of keeping my V+ box, he came back and said there was no change in the cost of my package, and would the 20th April be ok for install. Of course I said yes. I did not expect that early a date at all. Maybe there are not many takers in Darlington,

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2
For those worrided about confirmation of their installs; theres 2 very helpful Virgin reps on the VM Community forum who can confirm the times/dates via pm for you

I'm sure that's not a massive discount to some VIP customers paying over a ton a month, but for people like me, getting a £10 discount per month to take up TIVO would be quite encouraging. I assume this was given to basically take away two costs:
a) £6.50 per month additional box charge
b) £3 per month TIVO charge
= £9.50
So if you are saying you got a £10 per month discount that would be giving you back 50p...to have TIVO.... hmm...sounds a bit fishy to me. Surely a one off?
EDIT: Looks like you went through retentions to get that. If I take TIVO I'll do the same. Funny how I always have to phone retentions everytime I speak to Virgin to get anything done.
|
I was getting the run around being told different stories on whether i would/wouldnt keep my loyalty discount.
So had no choice but to go to retentions.
I very nice, honest guy, admitted he knew very little about the tivo so would check.
He spoke to his manager, who confirmed and put notes on my account (later verfied by a sales rep) that i do keep it.
He then looked at my account:
V+ box
V box
XL TV
XL BB
M Phone
SKY SPORTS with HD
and said he will knock another £10 pm off.

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2
I'm trying to read back through the posts but I must have missed something. As an XL and L customer with V+ upgrading to TiVo, can I keep my V+ and put in another room for free?
I already have the cable in another room, just no box.

You'd have to pay £6.50 for additional box (rental) plus Sky Premium HD I'd imagine.

he would probably have to pay the HD Sky extra sub as thats per box but many people in this situation are being told they can keep the spare v+ for no extra cost. Ie waving the £6.50 pcm charge..
Now what that means for people who already have 2 V+ boxes in terms of any offers that may appear I dont know. I do hope VM will be fair on us.
