Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2
Still same for me this morning - still takes me to catchup menu. Last night I wiped all the programme info and redownloaded it all. Took a few goes but still no good.
What I did notice was that every time I connected too the Virgin servers it downloaded a little more of the EPG. I started with only a few days but after about 10 connections to it I ended up with a full EPG until Friday 29th April. I thought this might then solve the catchup problem but it didn't. Let me know if yours get fixed.

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2
Getting tivo installed on Tuesday and when I got home from work last night the new contract was there. When I studied it I saw that it was for £110.05.
I rang billing to point out that I thought this was wrong, ( I`m on vip 50 btw) and that I thought it should have been £100.55.
After a while it became clear that the sales had added on and extra box and they thought that I would have 3 boxes after Tuesday. I told them that it was not the case and all that was happening was a box swap and I would still only have 2 boxes. That accounted for £6.50 of the extra. The next thing was that they were adamant that there was a £3 charge for tivo. I told them that my email said that there wouldnt be any charge. She asked me to forward the email to her manager, which I did. They then took the £3 charge off.
So its worth double checking these new contracts as mistakes can be made.

I wonder how many people don't bother checking the contract? It seems that overcharging is widespread. I ordered by phone and the initial quote was wrong. I haven't received a copy of my new contract yet but I will check it when it arrives.

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2
I've had my TiVo since Thursday. There are a few niggles (slowness, incomplete EPG, lack of catch-up) but, generally speaking, I'm pleased with it. That is, until this morning.
I turned on to catch the morning news and after only a few clicks on the remote the TiVo seized up and would not respond to any button pushes. I was left with the programme guide and the BBC News channel in the top right corner box. I could not find anything about this in the troubleshooting guide and I did not want to turn off the box as I was recording the F1 grand prix to view later.
I left it as it was and went out to buy a paper. When I got back the box was working normally again. I've no idea how long the freeze lasted for but at least 20 minutes.
Has anyone else experienced similar freezes or know if there is a known problem?

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2
As far as I'm concerned, the catchup / epg / search issue is not just a 'niggle' its a big problem. At the moment, the functionality of my Tivo is worse than the V+. This issue needs to be sorted soon otherwise I will send it back.

To you it's not a niggle to me it is, and seeing as that's not the way it should work then I know there is a fix coming. If it was just the way it worked then I could see your point. Just relax.

To be fair to sidneysides there does seem a lot of issues for a box that's ready to be released , sure you expect niggles however looking on various forums these seem to widespread.

DF, where are when we need you.?

Tivo installed yesterday and I am having that problem. I'm in Edinburgh
I have to say though that I am more than delighted with the quality of picture on SD, it's far better than the V+HD box. It would seem that everybody is experiencing problems, but not all the same

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2
I'm personally quite happy to just have the bigger hard drive for now and all the other bits and pieces get sorted when and where. But I do understand other peoples frustrations. I'm sure TIVO will have updates constantly until we are all happy bunnies.
If not it's goin in the bin

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2
So now we are getting the contradictory tensions between the mass outcries of "why can't I have the box now, if not sooner" and "there are bugs/features on the box, why have they released it too soon".

It took me several calls to agree that my monthly charge for VIP50 with Tivo & 1 additional V+ box should be £ 100.55 + £ 2.05 for caller display.
Contract then duly arrived for...................
£ 122.60!!!
Another rant at CS and the guy told me "rest easy, you will only pay £ 105.60, the contract is often wrong!!"
If Virgin don't sort out their pricing they are going to lose more customers, than TIVo gains.

And then there are those that moan about not having TIVo AND
moan about the bugs they might have when they do get it

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2
Whats a "contract through the post". I've never had one and I've been with VM for over 8 years ? ? ? ?

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2
As a serial early-adopter of anything tech I'm resigned to having slightly buggy products. Still, I do hope VM get the worst bugs out of TiVo soon. It does kind of take the icing off the cake for me.
