A 'Well done' has to go to VM for that, in staying away from Sky type pricing, such as HD, where it is charged per box.

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2

OK just had my TIVO installed all good...

Until I noticed you have to exactly in-front of the box, for the remote to work.

If you Sofa is off at angle then the remote does not work unless you are point from the sweet spot. (for me leaning forward alot)

Never had this problem with my V+ and other cable boxes before.... :-(

Just try pointing it generally downwards at a slight angle in the direction of the box as this works for me

no glass, in a stand but the sensor appears to be at the front of the box with a clear path to the remote.

Another question any know how to program the Tivo remote for TV volume?

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2

Do I take it that you are not able to transfer recordings onto another dvd recorder, a useful feature of the existing V+, when you want to archive precious recordings. Yes I know Tivo has an enormous hard disk, but what happens if for any reason you have to re-format or change your Tivo box??

You can transfer them but you have to watch them at the same time as it has not got the background feature that the V+ has.

That's a very good point - not seen that raised before.

Your recordings aren't the only things at risk from a unit failure - what about wishlists, series links and all the rest of the TiVo "intelligence". Is that backed up remotely, or are you back to square 1 after a box swap?

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2

same thing happened to me this morning, I phoned CS to check when installation is (after ordering via link on mail yesterday), they put me through to Manila who were insisting I would have to upgrade to 50Mb broadband and pay installation charge
