You can render HTML from within Flash but it's dreadful. Also embedded flash and the flash plugins are very different in deployment so my guess is that there is no HTML interpreter/render on TiVo.

Good point, got a bit blinkered looking at my computer there. Forgot TiVo had embedded flash and not containered.

Point still stands on custom iPlayer implementations though - they shouldn't be happening. By all accounts that is what has killed the iOS app development stone dead - the version currently out in the wild has been ready for months if not years - since before a freeze was put on spending money/effort on custom code.

If it transpires the beeb have spent money/effort on VM (after already doing so with the Catch-Up implementation), and won't apply the same to iOS (or any other "custom" platform), we should be asking why.

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2

Will VIP50 customers be getting emails today and tomorrow? I thought I would have been contacted by now. I will not phone VM as I think its fairer to wait for them to contact me.

Good things come to those who wait patiently and don't queue jump.

I'm an XL TV and phone customer, L BB and I got the email this morning.

I think that rule only applies to the BBC financing custom implementations themselves. If you front up the money there isn't a problem, I guess that's what VM did.

It's like I can see the future.
Funny how I got shot down on the suggestion that this would be the way it works with tivo at the time

It's only the BBC iPlayer App that is delivered in this format on TiVO.

And my post was entirely about iplayer on Tivo
I wouldn't say it was spooky, just common sense really, it's such a better way of doing it, you can see that by how much more content there is on tivo, and I bet it gets on there quicker as well.

Speaking of which, was told yesterday I'd get called back for my install date, no call yet... might have to give them a call to remind them!

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2

Yay, finally got it sorted, moved back onto a VIP package, VIP 50 no less. But with an added bonus.

£95.55 for the first six months, then £100.55 for the last six months. - Bonus. which covers the £30 50Meg activation fee. Nice.

Tivo here I come.
