If you record a lot of HD or like to keep whole series' recorded for when you want them, then 1TB is for you.
The 500gb is still a good option for most though

Will the recording time be around 60hrs HD for the 500gb , brings the offering in line recording time wise with standard Sky HD box.

Re: 500GB or 1TB option
I think the 500gb will be a popular choice for people going pay TV from free view and a consideration for switchers from other platforms , will the V+ still be available to new customers ?

Re: 500GB or 1TB option
I can't see it being too long before VM have a comprehensive HD channel catalogue. In the next couple of years 500GB just won't be enough. If it was me I would just get the 1tb now and avoid having to upgrade again in the near future.

Re: 500GB or 1TB option
I'd say 500Gb for the average user and 1Tb if you like me you record a lot in HD, to the point of if it is in SD then I am loath to watch it.

With Cindy rose saying that all customers will be moved over to tivo in the coming years (and I think she said something like, "not that many years", 'At the moment' seems an appropriate answer to me.
A 500 gig box, so soon was a bit of a surprise to me, especially the price and a sign of tbings to come?

Considering that the are over 1 million V+ boxes presently in circulation and they are by no means in the majority I would say replacing all Vboxes with TiVo boxes will be ongoing for many years.
Especially when you consider that the are still customers using old 3Com, Terayon and even NTL100 modems just on the NTL side plus DPX100/110, Surfboard 3100/4100 modems on the Telewest side it will be a while.

I was just quoting one of your VM bosses
You can see why they will stop issuing V+ as an option as soon as it's practical though.

I have seen the quote and can see where she is coming from but the cost to replace that many Vboxes would be horrendous, a nice thought but a very expensive one but I expect over a period of years they will be replaced when they develop a fault.
