I thought that it may be the TV, But now we have had another code drop I thought that I would try the HDMI again and it is all working now.
So when they released the newest code drop could that have solved the problem of the HDMI handshake that people have been having problems with (answers on the back of a postcard)

I don't think there have been any changes in this area. It's an intermittent fault that I've had occasionally. Unplugging and replugging the HDMI is the quickest way to fix it.

Doesn't sound like they will change it , however the full version is probably a better option. Sky want the beeb to pick up the cost to build them a personalised version to run on their STB , the way it reads is that the Beeb may build another version but at the platforms cost.

Next Gen Sky and VM TIVO

Will not happen as the Beeb will only allow an interface that they approve and without flash Sky boxes can't do it.
Plus Sky would have to pay the beeb to re-encode the videos etc from flash to another format.
VM only have bbc catchup on the V+ because the beeb control the look and feel of the epg.
VM arn't part of youview for the same reason as the beeb etc demand VM use the same look and feel epg and VM are going over to tivo epg which is not acceptable.
Sky only interested in youview because it now has decided to allow pay to view content where up till now Sky have attacked it.
Unless Sky can do a deal with the beeb etc to store content on computers in the phone exchange and to use their own anytime epg then no catchup will appear due to Sky having to pay BT for data usage and it would cost them a fortune.
Anyway with Sky having spent 6 months trying to roll out anytime+ and still not having it on all boxes how do they think that they could do catchup any other way.......

Because he changed to Sky and is stuck with it for 12 months.
No TiVo and lack of VOD, he has to try to justify his move or he might spend the night in tears........

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2
Look pal I'm only having a bit of banter pulling your leg , TIVO is a great prduct and does things from the box Sky+ cannot currently, it is a massive step for VM and will prove big competition for Sky. I was merely stating I don't think Sky regret their decision of going with Sky+. The main thing VM need to do is educate people on TIVO and it's functions.

A SKY box will never ever have the same functionality as a TiVo box as they never took up the option to use TiVo products and any attempt to copy it would be breach of copyright.

Yep, TiVo have all the patents locked up... Sky wouldn't be allowed to emulate much of TiVo's TiVoness

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2
Lets face it Sky and VM both have there advantages, Sky have the linear channels and VM have catch up and BB for now.
Until VM add more content Sky will always have that advantage, likewise Sky will never be able to match VOD. No system is perfect for one reason or another, each to his own.

Good point and over time TIVO will help VM as the V+ doesn't have services like remote record , HDD too small , non HD epg .
