Re: Will you take TIVO one the email that you got today?
At that price, I'll pass.
What I really do want though is extra recording space - that is my current top priority. The V+ just isn't big enough. And the only thing in between V+ and TiVo is another provider at the moment (or an against T&C's HD upgrade)
Big gap in VM's offering from where I'm sitting

As advised by VM staff on here they are going on a 'HD shopping spree' although that was mentioned in February.
Perhaps they are waiting for the January sales to pick up some discounted bargains

Re: Will you take TIVO one the email that you got today?
Will be waiting for the price to come down. Don't feel that this is a 'special' deal at all, especially considering most people who have already got it installed didn't have to pay the £40.
Also, as the red button facility isn't likely to be implemented until September and I am a tennis fan, I'll stick with V+ for Wimbledon. I think I'd rather wait for all the bugs/niggles to be ironed out before I get it anyway and the pricing has just firmed up my decision to wait.

Can't justify ANY pay TV package at the moment, money has to go on other things, but if the day came then I would definitely consider the VM TiVO.

Re: Will you take TIVO one the email that you got today?
A definite No!!
As I am already on VIP50 and find the V+ box adequate for my needs, the big plus being the 3 tuners in the V+, (Tivo only 2 tuners) at present.
I am away a lot at weekends so even with the TIvo's + points I can not justified the £149 + £40 and the £3.00pm increase.
Maybe later on in the year.

Tivo had the third tuner activated a couple of weeks back now. It can record three at the same time as well.

Re: Will you take TIVO one the email that you got today?
I am tempted to go for it - mostly for the bigger hard drive - but at the moment I have my priorities in the wrong order, and prefer to spend my money on food, petrol and tax on petrol.

Thanks for that bit of information but it is still too expensive given the current climate

Re: Will you take TIVO one the email that you got today?
sorry i won't be taking the deal - simply cost's too much, then they charge you for install, and then they charge for having it each week.
so no tivo for me

Again tempted; but the install charge is a step too far.

Re: Will you take TIVO one the email that you got today?
I was going to get a Tivo and happily pay £149 but now that VM want another 40 quid im having serious doubts as to wether I wait for a bit. I think the install charge is bad enough but to pay it
for a piece of equipment that still has issues however few they may be is just ripping the mick.

Re: Will you take TIVO one the email that you got today?
I am sure I read on hear a little while ago the Tivo box does not upscale as well as the V+ boxes. Considering their are not that many channels in HD just yet, this is a key factor for me. Also taking into account and the upfront costs, plus the extra monthly subscription charges, plus the price rises to other services, its a big no from me.
Which is a shame because I was very keen when I first found out about Tivo.
Must say the timing is very poor with the price increase and them still wanting an installation charge.
I don't have an issue with never owning the box as it is useless for any other provider and hassle free if / when it breaksdown

You make good points for the present situation, but when YouView launches next year, with online video services, sky plus will be way out of date. Tivo is at least 12 months ahead of Youview and VM will have Youview services, plus others. unless Sky have another box in development, they are in danger of being left behind.

I am not sure how you come to that conclusion as Sky's current box is providing online, on demand content now. Thousands of hours worth too.
They do not need to develop another box but they may well do.
Sky have never been left behind by competitors, on the contrary.
