Drop the adverts for XL customers. Drop the 20p charge for everyone else and keep the adverts in for M, M+ and L customers.
It's simply greed, nothing else. I've submitted my feedback advising I don't expect to be bombarded by adverts on any video content being an XL customer.

Re: Adverts on Music on Demand
Something I should have asked earlier, do guys on M, M+ and L get these adverts too? If so I really can't see any justification for this. How do you feel about paying 20p to watch a music video with adverts?
I hate this type of thing. When I buy a SKY Box Office event, usually boxing, SKY have the cheek to show adverts between rounds, between fights, at the start of the show and at the end. I've paid £14.99 to watch the show, why hit me with adverts too? Maybe Ofcom should investigate TV providers placing adverts in premium content, content which the customers have already paid for. I'm surprised that SKY have never placed adverts during their movies on any of their movie channels.

I think Sky show some advertising on Sky Anytime shows usually most of it is for there own products , just watched something on it and it had a short ad for the sky new iPad app.

Re: Adverts on Music on Demand
Has this been fixed? I haven't used the MOD section for some time and got the "MOD is free to all XL subscribers" message then played several videos from different catefories without any adverts.

Re: Adverts on Music on Demand
It does look to be fixed, I guess it was either a bug or enough people have actually contacted them to point out how stupid adverts are on 3min music videos.
Lets hope they don't reappear.

Might of just been a one-off promotion for that film?

I guess that makes some kind of sense. It was a very popular film, and having it on FilmFlex must have been great from a business perspective.
Promoting it probably was a good idea - but the reason it was so annoying was due to the constant repeating of the same thing (especially as several music videos will probably be chosen by the viewer)

It's not just new releases. Each night this week I have been watching a fair bit of MOD and the ads appeared on most of them. Very annoying.
Someone posted a link on one of the threads where Cindy Rose was interviewed and I'm sure that she said that they had started placing ads with on demand content and the customer's have not voiced much opposition, so they are speaking to many more companies regarding exploring this as a potential 'money-making' oportunity. Something along those lines. I'll try and find it and re-post it, but if anyone knows what I'm talking about, please post the link.

I've found it! It's quite old though, actually, from December 2010 (didn't realise), but it perhaps explains why the ads are there. Here's the relevant part. The link to the full article is underneath..
VOD monetisation elusive
Thanks to the power of its cable network, which has already been offering catch-up TV in the lounge for a couple of years now, Virgin Media (NSDQ: VMED) is one of the biggest UK VOD TV providers. But, after a limited trial showing ads to those VOD viewers, there is still no sign of fully and formally introducing pre-rolls across the system, aside from around music videos.
“It’s been a slow, steady build because we want to get comfortable with the level of consumer tolerance,” Rose says. “But we’ve had very few complaints. We’re starting to get a lot more interest from the ad community.
“This is a service that does 75 to 80 million VOD views a month - I expect to finish the year with 900 million views. The VOD platform is the third BARB-rated channel on Virgin - to not monetise it in some shape or form would be a real miss for us. We’re finding that people don’t mind if it’s relevant advertising and there’s not too much of it.”

Re: Adverts on Music on Demand
Is it possible to add some code in the software that queries how many videos are shown in a certain amount of time?
i.e. If a person were to watch 30 music on demand videos in a space of half hour, it would show 2 or 3 adverts only.

Re: Adverts on Music on Demand
This is still happening. If Virgin don't remove the ads soon, I'll be leaving them. I don't pay £100+ per month to have to watch an advert before every music video.

Re: Adverts on Music on Demand
I just noticed this earlier this morning, very poor form from VM. It would stop me using Music OD all together if this is the way things are going.
I'm hoping this is just another 'error'.......

Take a look at my post above. I don't think it is an error. It looks like it is something VM are purposely doing and appear to think that the customer doesn't mind. I suggest all who are unhappy about these adverts make a complaint to VM. If they get enough complaints, they will surely have to rethink their policy.
If people don't let them know of their disgruntlement, they will eventually extend the adverts to all areas of on-demand.
