That could well be the case but not really a solution, just a work around.
I made the mistake of setting Two and a Half Men on Comedy Central HD to new & reruns and it showed up with about 50 odd recordings seeing as it is on so much
I guess I'll have to live with the odd hiccup until TiVo is more established

I know it seems like it's been forever waiting for TiVo, and i'm sure I'd be the same!, but it really is almost here for the pre-regs now.

Re: TiVo
I should hope its better than that Nick, as the people who already have it installed were charged £149 with free install.

I've also had the wrong program record but thankfully it was only a suggestion.
The important thing with this "new and rerun" business is that some shows constantly repeat. So for example Mythbusters on discovery has a couple of repeats a day, so if you set a series link to new and reruns, you have to be constantly deleting stuff you have already seen.
The other worry is that if a show is a UK premier but seen as a rerun by the Tivo Box, will it then flag it as a new series in the suggestions bar ?

Re: TiVo
They clearly need to get their act together on the EPG front. Basics like this being incorrect have the potential to make or break the service!

Yeah, I mean as a (hopefully) temporary fix.

That's always been the default. Only the wording has changed.

It won't record duplicates within 28 days. An alternative is to set a restriction on the number of episodes it keeps, then it will delete the old ones itself.

It SHOULD pick it up as new, but occasionally they get it wrong and put the USA original air date. These issues are being addressed.

Re: TiVo
I was a pre reg in Dec 2010, i was on here EVERY day for about 2 weeks after that, then christmas came and went, and just nothing seemed to be happening.
From time to time i check in on this thread that is now over 5000 posts long, amd here we are 28th march 2011, still no further forward.
Looking back now, it was NEVER gonna be a end of year install or an "early 2011" launch.
For a product that i was VERY much looking forward to, all of VM's delays and heal dragging, has just made me less bothered about the whole idea of Tivo now!
I love new tech and will be very happy once it does arrive, just feel rather underwhelmed, annoyed and a bit peeved at the hole debacle that is "Virgin Media, powered by Tivo".

Re: TiVo
Yes, I even booked a week off work next week partially in the plan that there might be an outside chance of an install. It's pretty much the last time I can easily get leave until September as well so if I can't get it installed then it's going to be a real pain in the behind other than a weekend install which won't be in any demand at all I am sure...

let's say you set it to keep 10 episodes. let's say Discovery are showing 1 old series and 1 new series of Mythbusters but without the new series being correctly flagged in the EPG.
Does the box have the intelligence to keep 10 of the newer series and delete the episodes of the older series, or does it just keep the last 10 recordings chronologically ?
If the latter is true, then your suggestion does not provide a workaround.
Hopefully this will be fixed sooner rather than later, in the mean time it would be nice if VM would provide somewhere for us to report EPG data issues and ensure they are fixed quickly.

VM have had time to plan this. Why the delay?
|
Perhaps you have to sign in to My Virign Media to order and as there have been so many problems they have delayed by a few days to make sure it's all up and running. Can just imagine the uproar if the ordering process went wrong!
