Gauging the reaction of locals in the area, Hilsum said 'the local Libyans do not seem resentful, they still want the coalition forces to keep operating'.

Not quite as bad as suggested.

I think everyone would be safer if the Americans sat this one out ... The politicians obviously don't want to be there and I won't be surprised if the other Allied pilots are keeping a wary eye on our gung-ho cousins.

Re: [Update] Allied Forces taking Immediate military action in Libya
the problem is that alone Europe wouldnt be able to do the SEAD missions 1st of all Chris, do you know any airforce or navy in Europe that has say 3 subs laying ready and waiting with cruise missiles together with 2 guided missile destroyers firing in total around 140 of the cruise missiles or has stealth bombers ready to fly in as well?
Thats where we need them the initial push after that they can bugger back off.
Have tried finding more info on that DM story but 1st of all the rescue chopper was a V22-Osprey.... and 2nd of all other than from the DM I cant find any other source in either English or Dutch mentioning this.

okay I stand corrected:

Snip.... Locklear said he could not confirm a media report that the Marine Corps rescue team’s V-22 Osprey opened fire on a village and killed five people.

Can they not just send the SAS in and unleash a .50 cal at his head or at least drag him to the US for a right ear-bashing of the grand manner.

The SAS are more than capable of tearing down the whole country never mind just one man.
''He urged "all Islamic armies" to join him, saying: "We will be victorious."
He has completely lost it. He has 2 of the worlds superpowers bearing down his neck and he comes out with something as stupid as that. This guy is going to be Assassinated and you can already see it coming. They offered him a peaceful resolve and he has thrown it back in the UN's face. He is trying to start an International war

There is only one superpower left in the world. The rest are mere 'powers' ...

Depends which way you put it..
I see the American technology and sheer troop amount combined with British Technology and The best troops on the planet as a Mega-Power.
We all know wherever America goes from now on, We are going with them Vice Versa

Re: [Update] Allied Forces taking Immediate military action in Libya
That's very patriotic, but somewhat distant from practical reality. In technology and resources the USA eclipses any other nation by some considerable distance. The British bring world-beating expertise in certain areas, which allows us to 'punch above our weight' in many scenarios, but in truth the most useful thing we have brought to the Americans over the last few decades is legitimacy, or at least a shield against accusations of unilateralism.
The yanks could have done Afghanistan and Iraq by themselves, though both would undoubtedly have been far messier than even they were, but the political cost might well have been too high even for the lunatics running the White House at the time.

A chocolate grenade should serve as a suitable distraction.
Gaddafi should've invested in fembots instead, as I believe they are immune to chocolate temptation (if they can nearly resist Austin Powers' charm then they must be).
