Cambodia sets marriage age limit for foreign husbands

Cambodia has imposed a partial ban on foreign men marrying local women - would-be bridegrooms will now have to be less than 50 years old.
The government says it is trying to prevent exploitation - and promote true love and what it calls "honest marriages".
But there has been a mixed reaction to the ruling. The ban does not affect foreign women - or Cambodian men.

I thought this was an interesting story..I sort of see why they might query such marriages but to ban them? Can any government do that and not fall foul of some human rights organisation?

Like you say Maggy I can see why they have done it. They have to try to stop the exploitation of young girls but without banning I can't see what else they can do. These sex tourist's have to be stopped somehow. I say young girls but this applies to boys as well of course.

You don't stop sex tourism by banning marriages. As stated in the article, it seems an aesthetic measure as much as anything else.
