Howard you're not alone there, same with most people I think. I tend to pause recorded shows I'm watching whilst I move around the menus so I don't miss anything but you're right, the only way it appears you can stop recorded playback completely is to hit the 'TV' button.

Hmm the way you phrased that brings up a question - just because you specify different channels - is TiVo better with two programmes on the same channel. For example you have 2 programmes set to record on channel 5 back to back, and another on a different channel. Does it recognise that the two channel 5 programmes wouldn't need an extra tuner (even if you set padding) and therefore not cause a problem.

I hope I'm making sense. Just something I've always wondered even with the V+ why it doesn't recognise it's the same channel and then not have the conflict issues.

Re: TiVo

I thought the telephone calls were being replaced by emails, instructing those who pre-registered how to sign up to TiVo online? Clever thing from VM's pov is that you can't haggle!

Not really. Customer services just push buttons anyway.

It's like paying for your shopping at Sainsbury's - you can't put all your stuff on the conveyor and then offer the assistant 10% less than the total (unless you have a coupon or similar), just as you can't if you do the same shop online.

The only 'haggling' possible is with retentions, and even then they only have access to a number of deals, you can't name your price!

This only really annoys me when I'm recording a show on one tuner and I get a window pop up telling me TiVo wants wants to change channel to record a bloody suggestion. Suggestions should not be allowed interfere with the live tuner.

I believe that's something that has been fed back to TiVo, it's quite a pain.

As far as I can see that has nothing to do with either VM or TiVo

No was merely asking if that could be a source of revenue for VM , as I thought I'd read somewhere about VM using TIVO for targeted Ads.

Found this but admittedly it is from 2008 and it's the US TIVO

Re: TiVo

Vm havent stated exactly what the advertising setup will be with TiVo yet, but personally I think It will be along those lines. Systems like this operate on some US cable systems already.
