poll says-Half of Britain 'would vote for far-Right
Half of Britain 'would vote for far-Right parties if they gave up violence'
A total of 48 per cent said that they would support a group that vowed to crack down on immigration and Islamic extremists.
They would also restrict the building of mosques and order the flag of St George or the Union Jack be flown on all public buildings.

would you support one of these organisations if they mended their ways ?

Re: poll says-Half of Britain 'would vote for far-Right
Violence isn't the main issue though..
Yes something needs to be done about immigration especially with unemployment rising but that doesn;t mean to stop all immigration that some of these parties advocate.
Terrorism is never welcome yet these groups seem to want to clamp down on a certain religion just because some of them are extremists..
As far as the flag the Union Jack yes it should be flown on all public buildings but that's a case of pride in the United Kingdom and nothing to do with immigration, religion or building practices
Seems to me that they're grasping at straws and it would be interesting to see the locations/demographic of the poll and exactly what other questions were asked at the same time as leading questions can change the answer to the next question.

Re: poll says-Half of Britain 'would vote for far-Right
i'm personally rather upset with the whole election/political system -its built on false promises /lies and never seems to tackle the issues that bother the average person in the street , i think the uk is broken and needs fixing just not sure how to go about doing it ,but i think if some things don't change then people will turn to extreme politics to get it sorted .

Really would take this with a pinch of salt and having worked in market research in the past i know how well they can manipulate both the question and the questioner to achieve the desired outcome for the company or group that employs them.

Re: poll says-Half of Britain 'would vote for far-Right
No chance in hell.
Immigration does need controls however it is absolutely required to an extent - we're not producing enough babies to have a work force large enough to cover baby boomer pensions and health care.
Mandating flying a flag on public buildings I don't regard as being necessary - however I do get the idea and watered down to remove the apparent politically correct stigma that some bodies invent it would be workable.
I will never vote 'far-right'. There's a good reason why it's called 'far'.
Oh and most of the time these groups are not far-right, they are authoritarian-left. Nazi = National Socialist party ya know. No idea why this misconception is spread that xenophobia and racism are far-right traits.

The simple fact that they called themselves Socialist doesn't mean they were left-wing...

I'd have to be cold and dead before I'd vote for them.

No, their centrally planned economy and extensive state spending did.
Interesting, it's fine to tar the right with the the same label as fascists but tarring the left with the same label as nazis isn't.
Fascism isn't mutually exclusive with socialism or corporatism and fascists of both flavours have been around.
Seen the BNP manifesto?

“A brief skim through BNP manifesto literature brings to light proposals for the following: large increases in state pensions; more money for the NHS; improved worker protection; state ownership of key industries.

Doesn't sound particularly right wing to me - YMMV.

Given how lax we are about electoral fraud in some cases that is a possibility in the, hopefully distant, future Maggy.

They were Totalitarian alright, and we all know that you get Totalitarian regimes and the left and right. To claim they were left-wing is laughable though, and frankly I'm extremely surprised that you'd sign up to such utter rollocks.

Why is it any more laughable than calling them right wing?
You're protesting strongly but not actually explaining why it is such 'utter rollocks'.
They flirted with elements of both but a centrally planned economy is what it is. As far as I'm aware the idea that fascism is far-right by default is quite dead now.

No,but both left- and right-wing want to control our lives, albeit from opposite ends... or seemingly opposite ends.
Socialism is a common trait they share... reason enogh for me to dislike both, and to be Libertarian!

How do you propose we do that without immigration to balance out the boomers that are nearing retirement Hom3r?
The major issue is that some resources are disproportionately confined to a small subset who also make the rules to preserve their ownership of the resources, this creates many issues in its own right.
Economic migration is absolutely required either way. We should also sort out our own stock of idle *******s who've never worked and women whose aspiration in life consists of being welfare munching baby factories before whining about people coming here to work.

Well, the left has tried to put so much shame into feeling and being British, they made it politically incorrect to look after our own first.Doing so has nothing to do with being right-wing and causes less resentment,IMO.

Agreed on all points.
I think I have said this before, but I do believe the poor stay poor through their own behaviour, values and general way of life.

I can easily believe that in many, though not all, cases that's entirely accurate which is a shame.
It's one of the shortcomings of attempts to redistribute wealth through taxation and welfare rather than it being social security.
