Interesting story here, The new fixed intel chips are ahead of schedule and should start shipping mid feb which is now and also that the problem wouldn't have affected most people anyway so some will carry on using the problem ones.

I am building my Dad a machine and I was gonna build Sandy Bridge but we discussed it and these new chipsets will take a while to get onto the market I feel. Also the GPU would be redundant and he wont be over clocking or anything so we went with an i7 1366 chip instead
