The network changes may have nothing to do with a fault.
Remember 30Mbit is going onto the same network as 50Mbit and 100Mbit both of which are tech install only - because sometimes non-fault changes need to be made for the D3 network
I bet there was quite a bit of work done before the launch to make sure self installs could actually happen for 30Mbit!

If you have a Superhub on 20Mb then wait. http://www.cableforum.co.uk/board/35...-post1032.html

If you are being informed an install is needed, this will be because there is a network requirement for it.

Thats to do with the backend system that powers My Virgin Media. It is still in the process of being updated to reflect the tier and service changes, and will be rectified in due course.

Re: [Update] ALL 20>30Mb upgrade discussion
I'm on 20 Mbps at the moment and I phoned Virgin earlier about the upgrade. On their website it says that it's cheaper than 20 Mbps was, but the lady on the phone said that my monthly bill would increase by £6, so I said I didn't want it.
Can I just stay on 20 Mbps? I don't want to pay any more than I'm paying now.

Yes you can stay on 20mb. They assured me of that when I enquired. What do you pay for your 20mb BB?
Seems everyone pays a different price.

I've got TV, phone and BB XL, and I pay £53 a month for the lot. Switching to the 30 Mbps tier would take that to £59, which is too much really, as I'm not that bothered about the extra speed.

If you are on a Retentions deal you cannot get the upgrade to 30Mb without being on a standard package which means losing your discounts, the are many similar posts on here.

Re: [Update] ALL 20>30Mb upgrade discussion
Hi Masque
I've seen the statement in the legal stuff about customers on non standard pricing, but this is under the heading Free Installation & Activation Upgrade Offer. If you click the upgrade to 30Mb button you you are shown a £30 activation fee, which surely means the statement in the legal stuff doesnt apply???
Cheers
