As far as I can see all they are saying is if you are currently on 20mb and are price sensitive (ie you don't want to pay the £30 activation fee) AND currently have a superhub, be patient as there is a very strong possibility you will be uplifted to 30mb for free.
All I asked is whether the information given was:
a) Confirmed plans from VM
b) Speculation

Nothing to do with impatience. I couldn't care less when it happens, I'm already on 50mb and the only upgrade I care about is 100mb.

It's what they believe is going to happen - asking them to officially confirm it is unfair.

Not sure why I was quoted but here you go :

a) Confirmed plans are not announced on this site, Virgin do that officially on the Virgin website and via selected media outlets, asking a VM staff member to do it on this site is disrespectful (imo) as they could lose their job.
b) Don't have a problem with speculation, just don't expect a VM staff member to confirm something 'officially' in this forum, that isn't why they post here.

Actually if you have the SuperHub (or VMNG300) you can upgraded to 30Mbit without paying the £30 fee now. It's no secret

However you still have to phone up to get it processed

I never asked anyone to confirm anything officially. All I asked is whether they know for sure or are just guessing. I don't see how that's at all unfair.

I could say pigs can fly. Could just have easily read it on Facebook as seen it myself. I certainly don't think it would be unfair to ask which.

It sounded like you were questioning me questioning VM staffers.

a) Rubbish. Confirmed plans for the 30mb upgrade were were announced on this site well before VM did so on their own website, they were also announced officially on dozens of other technology news sites before VM did so on their own site.

Asking a poster on a forum to confirm if what they said was guessing or based on fact is not at all disrespectful and has nothing to do with their job. If they're posting information their job forbids them from posting, that has nothing to do with me.

b) I couldn't care less who they are, whether they're VM staff or not or whether their official or not. If someone posts a statement as fact with no clear justification and no evidence to back it up, it's perfectly reasonable to ask if they're sure and what makes them think that.

Almost all the VM staff here have disclaimers like
"All views expressed by me on this forum are my own"
I see absolutely nothing wrong with questioning someone's personal opinion on a discussion board. All I asked for is an answer like

"I'm sure because I read it on site X" or
"I'm pretty sure, somebody important told me at the pub" or
"I'm just guessing because [insert reasoning here]"

If they're not willing to answer they can say so themselves.

Whether you have need or not you want the 30Mb unless you have a VMNG300, the modem that was provided to 50Mb customers initially, you are getting a Superhub which is wireless 'n' compatible.

It's not about what you need it's about the equipment the operator requires you to have to use the service.

OK, your first post suggested you didn't care about "wireless n" without specifically saying you don't want wireless anything else either. The N wasn't at all relevant and confused things.

If you intend to use only wired ethernet, then yes, of course you won't need wireless of any sort.

@qasdfdsaq

I wasn't questioning you at all, why would you think I was ?

Your entitled to you opinion, I was just offering mine.

I have no desire to enforce my opinion on you or anyone else on this forum, I was just expressing my own opinion based on a number of posts within this thread.

Sorry, I assumed wrong. Thought the comment was directed at me as everyone else was questioning my questioning at the time

I thought the deal was that I paid for the service, and the operator paid for and installed their own equipment to provide it.

So I would be able to use 30mb without wireless n.

Yes but you still need the SuperHub - you can just turn the Wireles radio off and use the 4 wired ports on it

I'm not sure if there's a major difference between "asking someone to confirm something officially" and "to confirm that they are sure it is based on an official source".......
