Don't forget the loss of Bravo, Channel One etc.
Virgin must have some mega plans in the pipeline for VIP customers over the next 2 months to justify the price hike. Especially with the money from the sale of VMTV burning a hole in their pocket. I'm sure they are going to blow us away because at the moment they are asking us to pay more for less.

Just phoned CS and they told me I could upgrade to to VIP50 for £2 (£97.xx total) extra a month....
I asked him what happens in april and he said it goes up to £109.xx...an increase of £12

That would be a great help Ben, thank you.
I think VM may find a lot of people ditching the VIP packages if that is the correct price. Unless of course that is what they are wanting us to do!

Re: VIP/VIP+ New and Improved VIP Package
I am on VIP 50 and my girlfriend on VIP 20 , if these big increases do happen then we will both cut down by getting rid of sports and movies and i will also reduce my 50MB broadband. I was going to have a TIVO box when it came out but unless they come out with a very good VIP package for TIVO then i wont get it.

That money went back in to their network and paid some debts off.

Re: VIP/VIP+ New and Improved VIP Package
I think it's almost certain that I'll be ditching the TV. This price increase has really prompted me to look at exactly what I use, and to be honest it's only really the Internet and the occasional phone call (usually in the evening). The TV I really wouldn't miss at all.
Seeing how I upgraded to VIP50 last May I'm still in contract (think it's a 12 month one), so I'll likely be slapped with a charge.
Damned if I do and damned if I don't

Thought that was only if the price goes up on your bill before they tell you the prices are going up.
As far as I can see these new prices aren't gonna hit our bills till April, and they're going to send letters/emails telling us about them before that. Unless there's a "if you don't like it, you can downgrade/cancel at no charge" on the letter or email I don't see why they wouldn't claw some extra money from us via an early cancellation/disconnection fee.

I think it's best to wait for Ben to come back to the forum. Everyone can make a more informed decision then.

Because the law states they can't.
A price increase is a detrimental change to your contract, which means that you have the option of breaking the contract. They can't charge you for doing so, it's basic contract law, and no terms in a contract can over ride your rights in law. Any term that said you'd have to pay cancellation fees for cancelling due to price rises would be classed as an unfair term and be deemed unenforceable.

Re: VIP/VIP+ New and Improved VIP Package
Im still in shock at the price increase .... specially after the promise last year of a revamp and no price increases for a better package.
Unless the extra £12 includes a free upgrade / swapout for tivo then I will seriously look at downgrading or even moving back to Sky or Freesat ... £12 a month with nothing new in the package is simply unjustified IMHO and then they expect £149 (min maybe £189) extra for tivo plus an extra £3 a month ... sorry VM you have lost the plot completely if thats your plan
at those price increases there is no way I would contemplate tivo unless included in the package price including free box and install
