Question is now do I really want 50Mb?????
OK....Now realized the XL package is now £1.50 cheaper. So the £30 activation charge saved would pay for nearly 5 months of the 50Mb upgrade package.

mmmm

Seems to imply it is self install no?

(it helps to read the small print!)

got a point. Might as well upgrade to 50Mb for 6 months which costs £30, then downgrade to 30Mb after the 6 months and pay no £30 fee.

Not unless you pay £30.

Re: 20 Mb/s to 30Mb/s free upgrade

But I dont need to exchange my modem for Superhub.

I am still in my 28 day period from upgrading from 10mb to 20mb, so I can jsut cancel that, then ring up again and upgrade for free. Which is pointless. So either way, I am not paying £30.

Customers on non-standard pricing will need to move to standard pricing to receive these offers. Downgrading services in your bundle during the minimum period will attract a charge.

Does this mean that because I'm on a retentions deal to keep me as a customer I'm unable to pay the £30 for this upgrade from XL20 to XL30 unless I'm willing to go on standard pricing and lose my discounts?

Re: 20 Mb/s to 30Mb/s free upgrade

I think there should be no such thing as retention deals, VM should market the price they feel is competitive, it should be the same for everyone except when service is faulty.

So it seems either VM are overcharging the average punter, and then give a proper price to those that threaten to leave, or they selling at a loss to keep customers.

Re: 20 Mb/s to 30Mb/s free upgrade

I'm not sure the two are necessarily the same thing - someone on staff may be able to clarify. Nevertheless, more than one person on a retentions deal has phoned up this morning and been told they will have to pay the regular price in order to get the uplift to 30Mb, and has reported this in this thread.

If you have phoned up, been told otherwise and have now taken the 30Mb uplift, I'd be checking your next bill very closely if I were you, just to make sure you really do still have your retentions deal.
