They are both Wireless N Hubs, though having owned both of them I find the Super Hub to be much better in terms of reliability on wireless performance.

Docsis 2 wont give you 3Mb upload .. thus the old modem wont work.

The 100/10Mb service uses DOCSIS 2 upstream, it's fine for 'up to' 27Mbps.

DOCSIS 2 not DOCSIS 1.

No more mad than making some areas wait until March 2012 for the upstream increase or 100Mb to become available.
I'm guessing you already have your 2Mbps upstream so there's no 'madness' there and it's nothing to do with churn?

Thanks. I have problems (detailed elsewhere) with the wi-fi dropouts on this one and VM CS have now said their end says the modem is giving all the wrong readings so they're sending me a new one. Let's hope it's a superhub.

Re: 20 Mb/s to 30Mb/s free upgrade
Interesting.
Think this is enough for me to upgrade from 10Mb to 30Mb. Upgrading to 20Mb never seemed quite worth it. Would I be allowed to do this for a month as a trial ? Don't want to enter into any new contracts.

As long as it works better than this POS I don't mind!
How will we (will we?) get the Superhub when we're upgraded to 30mb, do you know Masque?

The is no upgrade to 30Mb as all this thread is as yet is just supposition, so until Virginmedia actually officially announce the supposed upgrade the is no upgrade.

Re: 20 Mb/s to 30Mb/s free upgrade
Hold on - I've just had all this with Chris who's said there IS a free upgrade for 20mb users to 30mb.

The is nothing on the website apart from the "upgrade to 30Mb" in the sales pitches and nothing has been officially released by Virginmedia such as a press release or anything else mentioning a supposed upgrade so until such time as that happens the is no upgrade.

Don't worry about Masque, he's just being a loyal employee. You can't expect VM staff to engage in this sort of speculation. If any of them knew anything about this, they could be seen to be giving away company secrets - so its best for them either to deny it, or keep quiet.

I have seen the same thing as everyone else but without official confirmation it is an unknown quantity.

Re: 20 Mb/s to 30Mb/s free upgrade
Ok. Can we 'suppose' how a 20mb user potentially upgraded for free to 30mb might obtain a superhub to use with it then? A bit of light guesswork never did any harm

I am on 20Mb using an Ambit256 so no idea what would happen upon any possible upgrade as most of the standard modems out there are actually capable of around 38Mb.
