Picture breaking up
My picture started breaking up on sky sports news today, no other channels turned box off for an hour returned all fine.
Tonight all channels pixellated and breaking up. Power off , came back still breaking up. Took card out of back and wiped, now fine. Could it be the card. Or is the box on its way out? Seemed to be wprse when I moved the cable wire going into back right, so thought it that, but once card repalced if I moved cable nothing happended! Picture fine, so no idea what it is?
Thanks

It won't be the card. ( I don't know why anyone wipes the card for picture issues! ) You are moving the box and cables... it's possibly the cable is loose. Check the cable input.

Re: Picture breaking up
Card wiped no issues until last night! Watched 5 on demand music vids then when back to normal TV all channels breaking up. Power off for 20 mins still breaking up, card out wiped and all fine! So card shouldn't clear this issue?

Wiping the card is not a fix especially as you have had do to it twice in one week, the issue must be elsewhere and unless you ring up support you will continue to wipe that card without a proper resolution, you pay your subscription for a working service not one that you may get working by wiping a card.

Re: Picture breaking up
sounds like a cable/connector/signal issue. not to say it's not the card as ive come across a few customers whos smartcard was causing the freezing issues (so dam surprising) after replacing all cables connectors changing tap plates etc lol you'd be suprised at the random things that can cause issues for stb's.

I would still ring up as simply wiping and reinserting may not be the fix as he could just be moving a cable and twice in a week is reason enough to call.

Especially as all the cards are virtually brand new and the chip faces down not up so more likely to be a fault with the box or even the cable.

Re: Picture breaking up
Now all I am left with is when I turn over channel the picture freezes for a split second on the new channel as if it is catching up? After that 1 second freeze on each new channel picture is fine and doesn't freeze again, until I turn over. What is this? Weird fine after 'catch up'?
Thanks for help

Just checked out the wiring I have a 8db forward path equaliser on back of box, FLD5 sig filter. What does that do? Would it make difference if removed?
Thanks

It reduces the signal level on the low frequencies whilst leaving the high frequencies unchanged. It's designed to compensate for the signal losses in the cable which tends to attenuate the higher frequencies more, so you end up with an equal power level across all frequencies.

It would make the signal too high for some of your channels.
If you have a fault give VM a call and get a tech out to look at it. That's what you pay them for

Re: Picture breaking up
remove it and give it a try, if it works, great it saves you waiting for vm to come out. if it doesnt work then stick it back on and give vm a call and get a tech out because it could be something else

Spiderplant is the Vbox specialist on here so his advice is sound about what effect the removal of the attenuator will have.

Re: Picture breaking up
Unless someone has moved your tap to a higher attenuated tap then you may no longer need it.

Re: Picture breaking up
Mine started 'stuttering' during Strictly HD. It's seems to have stopped now. I put it down to the 6" of snow we had this afternoon
